Off the bench mind you of those 17 games. I understand Wests aren't as bad as the last few years but still a below average team. He can't get a run with them.
We go from getting rid of the older players to get more older players, one with injury history. You can get experience with players in mid to late 20's.
Is 30 years old?? Can you recall the baby Eels putting away the Panthers, Roosters and pushing a star studed broncos team in 2000? We dont need need players like Gutho, RCG etc all closely aligned to BA - we've moved on now, Ryles and the coaching staff have done an excellent with whats available and the fact Moses has been absent for a large chunk of the season- time to be positive and back Jason.
I have no clue what the response was, whether for or against my comment but he is 31 start of 2026 season and is finished. He does a job but we have plenty of those. The job Bird can do many others at the club can do. Only thing is experience.
But yes we have moved on from Gutho and RCG and possibly get someone worse.
And trust Ryles? Well that's what I do most of the time but sometimes I call it like i see it
Well look if we signed say a top notch back-rower and finished most of our recruitment, had a squad where you can say this is the 17 and Bird was that 18th player where he might make the squad or be good depth, sure i am not against adding good depth. But at this stage he would be expected to start perhaps on an edge.
Ryles had his chance to coach the Dragons and he said no. Now it seems he's assembling their team in Parramatta 😂. Ryles is good mates with Jacks old man , Mick Bird , both Berkeley boys , so this ain't a shock.
He's also very close with the Hastings family ... just sayin.
"Because pen isn't on paper, for example Pezet wanted to see if Hughes resigned which he did on the 28th of July nearly a month after Galvin signs with the Dogs which then instigates a get out clause .
That didn't happen till Hughes re-signed , is…"
"Why admit we're interested if we have someone already for 2026? Doesn't make sense. All he could say is what most teams do tip toe around it and say "nah we're not" when we are
Rarely do clubs admit interest in a player unless they believe they can…"

Good signing, jacks played 17 games this season
This squad definitely needs experienced type players to guide our younger brigade
DCE plus Jack would be 2 great signings and its exactly what this team needs

Probably cost little to nothing, can play either 2nd row lock or out in the centres. Can't hurt the team
