Who wants to go to Vegas in 2027 ?

Not me !!!

Do we really need that side of marketing for our club ???? Can't we just focus on playing good footy week in and out and having well prepared and rested players .
we already have a strong base , we don't need to be well known in the USA

Opinions 🤔🤔🤔

sorry I don't know why my camera does this on here

      • Thanks for the advice

  • The whole event is a dud. Barely 0.1% of the American public know that any NRL even exists. The only reason they break even is because of all the die-hard Aussie, UK and NZ fans that make the trip over. The tiny handfull of US citizens that attend the match or watch it on TV is a pittance, barely a drop in the ocean, and their numbers will never grow. Why the hell would "big shot"Americans suddenly want to watch Australian rugby league? It's an absolute waste of time in my opinion and it's all about self absorbed V'landys trying to leave some sort of legacy as being the one who took NRL to the USA.

    • "it's all about self absorbed V'landys"...the dud

    • Here's the thing, the media and those alike keep mentioning how much this will grow the game in USA. Saying that is why they are there is to grow the game and expose NRL to USA. More Americans are watching the game every year etc.

Last year when they got to the last game, Penrith v Cronulla, the main event it was half empty as everyone else had enough and wanted to go back gambling and enjoying Vegas.

What the media forgets is V'Landys already said his intention for Vegas. They are the betting capital of the world and he wants in on the money. US betting agencies make a lot of money on Americans, most of them hammered and looking for something to bet on differently and just throw money blindly on a random NRL team or player.

Yeah the media probably know and just try to be upbeat about the sport and if they let on that is the reason the game is there many other fans will drop off Vegas. Vegas does bring in good ratings as the spectacle of it is different. Issue is, going into year 3 the spectacle is not as special.

Year 1 curiosity was high. Year 2 was consolidating. Now into Year 3 it feels like a gimmick. NRL know that it is wearing thin as they are looking at alternatives such as Wembley in London, Dubai, Singapore and others to host Round 1.

Can't we just come back here do Round 1 as normal? Don't blame to NRL for chasing the betting money that Vegas offers but don't pull wool over the eyes of nieve fans thinking it is to grow the game. It is not, it wont and the NRL have no intention for it to do so.

If they were so hellbent on growing the game into the US market, give them the 2027 RLWC.

      • Year 1 was a junket, year 2 was a gimmick, year3  is a joke. i hope it's pants fall down

  • Thing is, we'd be going at some point. Every club is going to play there. It's a blatant cash grab for gambling dollars by the NRL. And while the club has a say to an extent over when they go, they will be going. I assume we'd be playing a non-traditional rival and that would mean we wouldn't be playing a home game at magic round next year.

    • Perth Bears in the mix ...

  • I'm not that interested in going anywhere outside Australia at the moment. Everywhere even travelling and holidaying within Australia is very expensive these days

  • Don't think it suits a young new side at all. Think it's distrupting  unless a team has been together for a few years.
If we have to go, hope we are last cab off rank.

    • I expect we will go eventually and I see no reason why not.

Personally I would like to be there but the whole travel thing to the States is a pain in the arse. They really are a dysfunctional country at the moment.....no reason why we should act like "red necks" in response though if someone still chooses to go.

I feel a little disappointed in that people who do not want to go seemed peeved about others that do. I think it says more about the former and the fact they are a little "miserable" with their life. i.e. don't go if you dont want to, just don't begrudge those that do!

Its not that hard is it?
