Do we really need that side of marketing for our club ???? Can't we just focus on playing good footy week in and out and having well prepared and rested players .

I expect we will go eventually and I see no reason why not.
Personally I would like to be there but the whole travel thing to the States is a pain in the arse. They really are a dysfunctional country at the moment.....no reason why we should act like "red necks" in response though if someone still chooses to go.
I feel a little disappointed in that people who do not want to go seemed peeved about others that do. I think it says more about the former and the fact they are a little "miserable" with their life. i.e. don't go if you dont want to, just don't begrudge those that do!

Poppa, if we applied The Orange Test to this situation, to go to Vegas or not to go to Vegas, it would be the following. I don't want to go to the USA, which therefore excludes Vegas by logic even for MAGA. If some want to go and are thus dissenting from me, the only proper respond is to declare the dissenters NRL Terrorists and violently dispose of them, for instance making them support The Dogs or say nice things about The Rorters. I wonder if the people complaining about Vegas are the same people who want the Eels to be run like a professional club like the roosters and think the sun shines out Politis ass.
Roosters love the Vegas concept and Politis has partnered up with LA roosters in their 9's comp with his own money. He is sending Luke Keary over there to help them so obviously if Politis can see the value it isn't just a stupid Vlandy's project as many suggest.
Some of the most successful minds in the game and the best run clubs have really embraced the Vegas and USA games but it seems many eels fans are as stupid as some of our past board members. If you don't like it that's fine you don't have to go. If your angry you might lose a home game from your membership that is fine, but calling the concept useless and stupid is clearly wrong. League will never be massive over there but it doesn't have to be. It just needs to have a presence and a tiny portion of broadcasting and gambling dollars will more then pay off.
The other thing that Politis has recognised is the possibility of tapping into athletes from America. There are over 100k rugby players in USA and a strong college competition. The best athletes probably won't choose Rugby over other sports but there would definitely be plenty of them with skills not suitable for NFL but their athletic ability may be better suited to Rugby or League.
With Politis getting involved I say it is only a matter of time before we see some young athletes from USA in roosters colours.
