Should a club listen to their fans?

For so long I thought a club shouldn't listen to their fans. Leave it to the professionals, they know what they are doing etc..
Well turns out our club is full of ameteurs who wouldn't have a bloody clue.
The club should spend more time with us fans. Get to know us. Build a culture from the people who have their finger on the pulse and know the community better than anyone.
How the club can lose Hayne is beyond me. I know Hayne has had his issues but he proved late last year what an asset he is. The way he, Moses and Norman have been treated is embarrassing. 4 days before their future needs to be decided and these guys don't know what they are doing. Yes, they haven't been great for us (Norman/Moses) but the club needs to have a little respect for the livelihood of their players. Don't leave them hanging. The way they handle this situation says more about the fucked people running the place and not the players. As Hayne said, they are suppose to start pre season training soon and no one knows what the fuck is happening.
Ask the fans what they want. They no better.

  • If the club had to listen to fans advice on which way the club should be headed then imo we’re up sh*t creek without a paddle. We may think we all know what’s best for the club & all have an opinion, but their are people in higher places who should know more than all us fans put together.

    • I seriously doubt that. Many fans here are well educated and well heeled too. Maybe the club would do well to listen it members occasionally especially as it is the fans who drive the revenue for the club not Bernie and co. Just because you don't know anything don't think everyone is sitting in the dark with you!

      • Yes why didn’t we think of this all along, The fans will give us the answers the club seeks. Donald have you ever asked yourself why your considered ‘just a fan’? You have an opinion like the rest of us. That’s where it ends im afraid.

  • No

    • Being a little hard on yourself Wrongy, you were almost correct about something once.

    • Ha ha
  • Geez I wouldn't be to sad knowing I have a contract in place to pay me $800K to $900K for next year. I'm sure if I had to I could make that last into 2020 if I had to LMAO!!!
  • The way they’ve treated Hayne ?  What ya mean by holding off renewing an expired contract until it’s possible under the salary cap rules ?    Poor Jarryd , I hate seeing a guy who’s walked out on his last two contracts getting stuffed around with his contract.

  • Dear oh dear

  • All clubs deserve to be held accountable by their fans.
Reading Cooper Cronks piece on the net this am where he discusses why both the Storm and Roosters are so similar.
He mentions professionalism and the fact that there are no excuses tolerated.
By far the Eels biggest problem is that they are the excuse Kings. There is always an excuse for their failure. Every year it's this excuse, then something else.
This year it was that coach didn't have all the resources.
I'm heartened that we seem to be tracking well with BA. He has everything in 2019. If the team fails it will be squarely on him.
Although if he does fail in 2019 there will be those that pull out the same defeatist rhetoric.. The same excuses..
Until we grow up and act like a professional football team we will forever be also rans and deserved fodder for fans and pundits alike.
