        • Right ok, and what were we expecting last night? People said last week he need to be more simple and give Moses the ball. He does that an people still bitch and moan. I get it, he is seen as the black sheep as many here love Ryley Smith and feel TDS is not needed, but the kid is 20 for christ sakes. If he was 22 or 23 then ok make the claim he is not good enough but seriously i just feel he is being targeted more than any other player as many love and adore Smith. Many said at the start of the year to drop Iongi or play him on the Wing, Kautoga is not a FG quality player etc.

What 20 year old comes in mid year with 22 NRL games not knowing the spine at all and plays well straight away? He was ok last night, didn't do anything wrong. Shows very little in attack, well guess what Ryley Smith has played more minute this year and has 0 tries, 0 try assists and 0 line break assists. Not saying Smith is not good or playing well, he is and i like him a lot but it is true. Da Silva has 3 tries this season with way less minutes.

Not saying either will be better than the other as i do not know but TDS targeting at this stage is ridiculous.

Plus the comment of people saying give him an off-season is people hoping he comes good, well yeah that's exactly what it is isn't it? More give him a full pre-season to pass judgement. If he gets to this time next year and not showing more than ok give him all the hate. But Ryley Smith staying on was not winning us that game last night let's be fair. Smith had no help from Moses, Papali'i and Iongi. TDS played simple and gave the ball to the playmakers and took a few good runs from offloads, he was simple.

          • Well we will certainly find out next season I guess.

            • We have to, if he is rubbish next year I will be front and centre in saying it got that wrong, won't be the first time nor the last.

          • LB, I think you have the wrong idea of what makes a player when you judge Rylie Smith with his duck eggs.

He did make a long line break last night, but who gives a shit about stats like that. I actually thought Smith may have let us down last night and said in a prior post I thought he was over confident (and will learn by that...nothing wrong with confidence!).

Smith strength's are his line speed, chasing the kicker and his tenacious tackling and then their is the heart to chase down anyone after a break. The measure/s you related to in comparison with TDS cannot be compared to the pair of them.

No criticism to you specifically but too many people get stats and then cannot relate to them in context. They have a role, but always in context..... I am waiting to hear a comparison between the Cows and how shit they were/are and then their performance against knights yesterday.

I am very convinced its mental.....interesting how Roosters come up against us next week, do you think they may be cocky or over confident against our shit performance against the Rabbits. The proof will be in the pudding because Roosters were shit early in the season, but they are finishing what they started. I wonder if we can.... we have not got the talent base of them, that's for sure!

That's the fundamental we have to bridge!

PS Roosters have a huge incentive just the same!

            • Well it was brought up that in attack he offers more than TDS, I know there are more elements but main elements Da Silva is similar but scored 3 tries and Smith has shown, and we knew this, he is not really a creative Hooker. That is why TDS was brought in. Da Silva has no linebreak assists or try assists either but Smith has played way more minutes. I am not comparing them to say who is better, it was brought up that TDS offers nothing in attack when Smith hasn't either.

I know stats aren't be all and end all but there can be weight to them, was merely pointing to the fact that Smith hasn't shown more in attack in a lot of areas compared to Da Silva.

    • Shaping that way BEM, but I think that Smith was a touch cocky (overconfident) and I repeat I hope we didn't pay anything like what was reported on TDS.

You have such good oversight its a shame you can not come with some positivity in your commentary, the site needs objectivity to be balanced with pessimism.
