Shack & Grothe Injury update

Shane Shackleton continues to work towards a comeback this year from a horrific hamstring injury, while the main squad came through last week's match unscathed. Many players are carrying niggling injuries into this end of the year and our club physios and doctors are working hard on the boys to keep them on the field for every game.Daniel Anderson has named an unchanged line-up for this week's match.Shane Shackleton has taken part in his first training session with the main squad since the injury, though he is still restricted from certain activities.Eric Grothe is now running as he comes back from a knee injury, while Brendan Oake is still recovering from surgery on his thumb.http://www.parraeels.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=28638&title=parramatta-eels-injury-update

  • i asked grothe when he will be back and he said around semis.
cant wait to have them back
  • I do hope the club re-signs Brendan Oake. I don't think we will find a better cover for Hindmarsh and I'd hate to think this injury is jeopardising his chances of getting a new contract. He's played really well in all the chances he's been given this year.
  • If Shackleton did regain fitness where would he fit into the team? who do we drop? Can KK play 80min at 9 and drop MK putting Shack on the bench, given that Ando is sticking with Morts & Robo and Horo has really stepped up. Shackletons' main benefit maybe the pressure he puts on the current guys as they look over their shoulder knowing he is ready to take a spot in the 17, they would up their intensity.
And at the risk of starting all the hate again, what do we do with Eric, Inu & Burt. A month ago i would have said bye bye Inu but he has really stepped up, look at the effort against the roosters after Hayne missed the ball as the Roosters kicked through, Inu showed real commitment to race back.

Its not an easy job as a NRL coach, i guess thats why they get a decent earn.
  • I'm really not convinced about Mateo as a 6. His biggest asset is hitting the ball up and offloading. Not helping organise an attack. Granted, Horo is the obvious 13 next year and it'd be good to see if he can handle starting.

Can't agree with Grothe coming in for Burt. Inu if anyone at all.
  • Yes that works, but I would keep Robo and drop Morts, just because i think he has a better 5th tackle kick although its not that great. Just don't think the coach will put Mateo at 6 or ever drop Mortimer. I would want to make sure Inu is kicking well before dropping Burt because Luke is a great goal kicker and in the tight games it can be crucial.
  • I cant understand why Brendan hasnt hit the weights big time. Its generally acknowedged that the only thing holding him back is his size, why not try and be a Paul Gallen and pump up ?. He has ticker but he is just too small and obviously thinks he doesnt need to increase his size.
  • burt to captain i say.... just for sinbad???
  • It was in the paper the other week Grothe is out for the Season!
  • well we all know how the papers can blow everything out of proportion .. remember the whole Hayne-DA debarkle? =)
  • i think sinbad got it spot on.
