Set Restarts + Are Ruining the Game

I'm sure not everyone will agree but in my personal opinion Set Restarts in particular are destroying the game and allowing the referee to basically control the outcome of games. Combine the Set Restarts with diabolical refereeing and bunker calls then the whole fairness of Rugby League has long gone. Seriously today's game was disgraceful refereeing ( yes the Eels made some poor mistakes and the younger players are still learning) but a 10-1 penalty count and not 1 repeat set 🤣. This seems to be a continual report on 85% of refereeing of the Eels games. In my opinion the Eels hierarchy need to speak up about the appalling referee and bunker calls. It's not only the Eels coping it but it seems the lower placed teams get the raw end of the stick. Ricky Stuart isn't afraid of speaking up when things go against his team with refs. About time the Eels did the same or they'll continue to be the NRL doormat team

              • We could discuss this all night Poppa. It is basically a power issue.  People in power look after their own interests before the common good. You only have to look at history to see that French Revolution, People who fought to keep slaves in the USA.  Russia . Massive tax cuts for the multi billionaires in current USA,as well as cuts to a lot of services including education and health.. .I don't want to get into one of those discussions around inequality throughout power structures in history and where their primary interest was.. Take it easy mate you seem to have been in the wars today. The energy everywhere is really unstable.Don,t get sucked into it. It is contagious

                • Agreed Tad, but I am protective to our club /team and there is enough going on without us jumping at every imagining.

I don't like to see people attacked from a base of low information, it is hard to get good people in any environment and your post above implies that.

Contrary to what Wiz said, I do not think of myself as lacking courage in criticising .

The other things are putting into words a reinterpretation of things said. i.e. Wiz said I panned the club after the second round, I reversed that a couple of weeks later with more contemplation and less emotion. Surely we can change our mind.

Also the Dyllan Brown situation is one that hurts because he was one of my favorite players and whilst I think he has been badly judged since he became a marquis player, I have been more critical and questioning this season, which is approriate to myopic ignorance that some undertake. i.e being called the "titty man" and that sort of shit gives no credence to our site. Almost "juvenile".

                  • The Marquis of Merewether, Dylan Brown....Lord of Lechery

                    • Good to see Randolph, If ever a person needed to get closer to the "Lord" it is you my son. I can see you and the Lord of Lechery out on the town arguing what to have first ! the sex or the drugs?

                    • If you don't know "what to have first ! the sex or the drugs", I can't help you. I will assume that you have not done this before and have no business getting out on the town with me

                  • Pops "Surely we can change our minds. " I think I will dread the time I stop changing my mind.

                    • The world changes. When reality changes and you refuse to change your mind...refuse to update...you will be exposed by reality, often at great cost.

                    • There are so many realities out there Randy. I try to do meditative breathing at night to try to find me. Trying to filter out advertising as much as I can as well as advertising affecting others who come into my zone. A great struggle to find yourself . Thinking about "updating"" yourself  is a good quality to have

                    • I am currently watching a biography on SBS on demand on a playwright named Samuel Beckett who was a WW11 resistance fighter and Nobel Prize winner who is someone very in touch with who he is. Your post Randy about self identity resonates with me about someone who knows himself very well.

                    • Brilliant biography maybe more suitable for older people wanting to look back at their life . Distinguishing between their life achievements seperating that from their human  frailties.
