Semi to make debut

Triple M's Brent Read has revealed that Mal Meninga and the Kangaroos selectors have included Paul Gallen and Semi Radradra in the Australian test squad. Listen to the full report below.Reporting for Triple M's Rush Hour, Ready said that a 17 man squad has been listed and controversial inclusions Gallen and Radradra are set to feature in the Kangaroos team."There was a selection meeting yesterday involving Mal Meninga and national selectors and from what I understand those two guys are in the team," Ready said."Paul Gallen in the front row because Aaron Woods is out and Semi Radradra on one wing. Corey Parker will be the lock in the test side, so Gallen can't play lock."The announcement of Radradra's inclusion comes after weeks of selection debate as the Eels star changed his allegiance to be eligible for Australia."He's in there now and he has to play himself out," Ready said."As at right now, he is in the team."Triple M's Wendell Sailor said that he believed Meninga had made the right decision."Don't forget Mal was the coach of Papua New Guinea so he should understand more than anyone," Dell said."But if Radradra is available for Australia, why wouldn't you pick him?"Congratulations Semi well deserved!!!!

  • Well done Semi, even though its not his native country im sure the big man will be brimming with pride, what an achievement, best winger in the world and a Kangaroo.

    • I can see that big white smile on him now
  • Well deserved
  • Great news, he has been the best left winger for the past two and a bit seasons.  To not pick him because of where he was born would be wrong as he complies with the residency rules and would have been discrimination if not selected.

  • Surely if he qualifies for Aus, he has to qualify for NSW now?
    • No
    • Just east of Kempsey?
    • No qualification rules for Origin and National teams are different

National teams allow for qualification on residency basis Origin does not

    • I understand that Dave, what I don't understand is we now have a situation where players can play for Australia but not SOO. It makes no sense. He is either Australian and eligible to play state or not. It's like saying Kevin Pietersen can play cricket for England but he can't play county cricket
  • if true (And I trust no journos of late) congrats semi
