Seibold deserves his full contract amount

A lot of talk in the media about Seibold being offered 1 million to go away. Interested to know what you all think about it?

Personally if I were Seibold I’d want the full contract. Don’t understand why any sane person would take any less that's the whole idea of contracts and risks.

The Broncos made a huge mistake with Seibold and they should be made to wear the whole thing $$$. They should have to learn the hard way like we always have too with our mistakes.

  • It’s not whether he deserves it or not, the fact is that he signed a common law contract in good faith, and he has every right to demand every last penny, including his option year if he so desires.

The Broncos board approved the contract on behalf of the club’s shareholders, now that those shareholders want him gone the board are trying to shift the shit onto Seibold, but this is their mess, they can clean it up.

It really comes down to how much does Seibold have the stomach for the fight, and whether he thinks he’s a legit chance to get another gig somewhere else. Personally I think he’s permanently damaged goods now, if I’m him I’m demanding the full contract amount, even if I have to turn up to work everyday and sit in the office and do nothing.

    • I agree. His job prospects and earning capacity will be greatly affected for the rest of his life. All this talk by bias NRL commentators saying take 1 million just want too see the broncos play finals for ratings next season when every other club would be looking at a 5 year rebuild.

the club should be made to wear the full contract and learn from their stupidity. We made terrible decisions with our roster over the years and the media didn't come out and say we should pay the duds a quarter of their contract worth.

Seibold should take them for every cent, 1 million is nothing considering he won't earn a decent salary for the rest of his life.

    • Where I differ is do I deserve my full contract payout? Lawyers getting richer.

      • It’s not about whether he deserves it or not. He signed a common law contract that says he gets “x” amount of money for “x” amount of years, provided he meets his obligations as written into the contract. There is no performance based clauses in the contract, if there was the Broncos would’ve exercised them months ago. So he has fulfilled the terms of his contract and therefore, yes he does deserve the full contract amount.

Lets remember the Broncos are terminating his contract, he’s hasn’t quit.

    • Well no matter what he’s coached his last game at the Broncos, he’s all but banned from the team now. They’ve gone public that they are sacking him, they simply cannot give him the reins again.

  • I agree. I don't understand why the Broncos would negotiate down from what he's entitled to and he would agree to it.

  • If I was Seibold I'd have a good Lawyer turning the screws on the Broncos right now. None of us know the details of the contract but if there's no out-clause I'd definitely be demanding the full amount.

    • You are dead set right Mutt nobody on here knows if there is get out clauses for either party or what's in the fine print of the contract so all the summation on here means diddle squat who knows what's going to happens.time will tell and really.I just don't care what happens up there

  • I think he'll get his full contract amount. My guess is that the Broncos are manipulating the media to report they have settled on a lesser amount to appease supporters.

    • More likely they are trying to save their own bacon when their shareholders come asking why they authorised an unproven coach such a bloated contract. The directors have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders, not just News Ltd.

Rupert Murdoch didn’t become a billionaire by throwing money away.
