Hes improved so much and you need players like him in a squad you cant have elite players in all positions

Yeah / Nah, I suspect most pundits have been spot on with his skill levels to date. The ball has always been in his court and he has been afforded every single opportunity to excel.
An honest depth player, that sees too much time in first grade if you want a premiership winning backline.
'If he is able to secure a better at the end of his current one, then he should most certainly take it, until then I prey the Addo Carr effect keeps making him better.
He is a defensive Centre who fed JAC well this year. He will never be world class but he is FG standard. Teams have won comps with defensive Centres in the past.
mmmmm okay can I ask a simple question.
If the Eels wanted to upgrade their current game day squad (top 17), as of today, would Russell be in your top 3 to replace with someone better.
His defence was great, it was actually an amazing part of his game this year. I think most people were just rightly frustrated by blowing quite a few opportunities by not getting the ball to JAC in time with his slow hands.
I'd still prefer Russell over Brian Kelly though, an off-season could get him ready for this year.
Sean Russell is similar to Tom Opacic for us and other defensive Centre's in the NRL. He had an incredible year considering he hardly played Centre prior to this season. The way he shut out opposing Centres, Kotoni Staggs the biggest one. Plus, he wouldn't be overly expensive to keep and is 24 this year.
I think it is a loss losing him. Not saying you give him a 5 year deal or anything, but a reasonable length deal would be fine. Ryles is obviously a fan.
