SCRUMS

The refs need to read up on scrum rules. Im sure they said they were going to crack down on them. On Sunday the Tigers decided to push in a scrum(how dare they) a titans player falls out before the ball is clear and they still play on WTF is the point. Get rid of them all together or let them be competitive. Here are some old school boys and some old school scrums.

and this is just highlights from 1979

  • Technically scrums are allowed to be competitive today. Just as technically the marker is allowed to tackle the dummy half. The trouble is neither of these plays are expected by the refs so when they occur everyone, including the players freak out.
IMO the ball should be put at least somewhere in the tunnel of the scrum for a start. Pushing then becomes a realistic but still risky option. At least it's some level of contest and if you push but lose the scrum you are vulnerable in defence.
And FFS refs, if the dummy half takes a step or 2 he's allowed to be tackled. Sheesh!!!
  • Scrums bwahhh what a joke. The modern day rugby league scrum is a joke and an embarrassment the game. The sooner we punt this ridiculous farce of a contest the better. DEATH TO THE SCRUM.
    • I was watching old games from 1983 the other day and scrums were a real contest but many ended in penalties. Very complicated for supporters to work out why a penalty was given when you can't see every angle of a scrum.
