Kieran Foran has admitted the appeal of playing under Brad Arthur was a major factor in his decision to walk away from Manly to sign a lucrative deal with Parramatta from next season.Foran insists his desire to play under Arthur isn't a negative reflection on Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey, but admits he couldn't turn down the opportunity to play under the assistant coach who helped Manly to premiership success in 2011.Advertisement"There's no hiding from the fact that played a big part," Foran told Nine News. "He's someone I really respect, someone I've got a lot of time for and more importantly someone that I enjoyed playing under in that 2013 season and working with. When he rang me and asked about the opportunity of going there, I took it as a good one."Foran said Daly Cherry-Evans' decision to sign with the Titans added pressure to stay at Manly. "When he decided to make his decision, I felt a little bit of pressure [to stay]," Foran said. "I didn't want to see Manly lose both of us. That was something I was wrestling with up until late last night."The Eels managed to pull off one of the biggest signings in the club's history luring Foran to Parramatta but chief executive Scott Seward said he isn't done there. The Parramatta boss insists there is still money in the salary cap to spend for 2016 despite offering Foran one of the most lucrative deals in the club's history. The four-year deal, which was revealed by Fairfax Media on February 26, is believed to be in excess of $1 million per season. Seward insists the Eels will still be active in the player marker despite claiming two big scalps in Foran and Anthony Watmough in the past six months. "Our 2016 roster is not set, we've got money to spend," he told Fairfax Media.A lot could hinge on the future of off-contract halfback Chris Sandow, who has begun preliminary negotiations with Parramatta about his future. However it's five-eighth Corey Norman who is under the most threat given Foran will likely join the club as their No.6, but the former Bronco isn't off contract until the end of next season. While it's guaranteed at least one of the current starting halves won't be in the same position next year, Seward insists Sandow and Norman are part of the club's future. "They are still part of our plans. When we assessed Kieran coming to our club we looked at the role those players will have. They will be vital for us for the rest of the year and we believe they will play a part from 2016 onwards as well. Brad has had conversations with Corey all the way through so that he knows he is part of the plans. Corey is contracted for 15-16 so we wouldn't make a play like this unless Corey was here to work with Kieran. And it's exciting to see how Corey has started the season this year."Former marquee man Jarryd Hayne, who departed Sydney for the United States on Monday, said he was 'sad' about what Foran's signing meant for his former halves teammates but understood Parramatta's thinking. "He's obviously a great player and adds a lot," Hayne said of Foran. "It will be sad to see what happens to either Normy or Chrissy Sandow but that's the business and the business I'm about to go into is a lot more ruthless than that. Chrissy and Normy have started the season really well and pushing their claims forward to secure the opportunity."

    Now I'm confused.

    • What will make me happy is Parra winning. Norman and Sandow have had plenty of time to show their worth... nothing lasts forever and now one may have to move on

    • We'll be offloading players such as Cahampion (and others) so who knows what's going to happen with our cap. I'm still hopeful we'll sign Izzy

  • Why ask jarryd for his thoughts?

No offence Jarryd but no one gives a shit what you have to say right now.

    • If it was Hindy would people care any more? By the logic of "he doesn't play for us anymore who cares" we shouldn't listen to a word of Hindy's either? Or other past players?

  • If Seward is saying they want to keep both that could only mean sandow 7 foran 6 Norman 1 hoppa 3 or gone.
  • Hindys in the media now and gets paid for his opinion, Hayne is following his dream.

  • And that's not even including the brown paper bags.

  • So according to our CEO both Sandow & Norman r part of our plans going forward. Mmmmm, if Foran is our No6 u would think if re-signed Sandow would hold onto the No7 spot. That means Norman would probably slot into the FB role so where does that leave Hoppa come 2016? Back to the centres or gonski?

    • My thoughts too.

I would think Hoppa for Champion and Norman to FB.
