Sarantinos on the Tip Sheet

Some of you might be interested in watching the first hour of the cumberland throw podcast that I am sure you are familiar with. They interview Sarantinos.

I am still watching it but a few interesting things especially regarding recruitment that I know people here are obsessed with:

1. The likes of Talataina and Polley are tied up long term apparently.

2. Club has cap space and is looking for forwards mainly.

3. Also they want to "sure up" the hooking position, which can mean signing up Riley or still trying to buy a 9

Not related to recruitment but he's mentioned the likes of Josh Hodgson and Mitch Lewis spend time in coaching box during NRL matches. I like this. I hope Rankin does too. This might be a nice way to prepare successors to Ryles in the future from within.

Decent watch.

    • Coaches have to start somewhere, they have done a great job with our juniors this year. I wonder how you would have felt if we had Gibson, Bennett and Bellamy in the box a year or two after they retired from playing. They were three very ordinary players.

      • Bennett did play for Australia to be fair but i know what you mean.

      • Comparing Gibson, Bellamy and Bennett with Hodgson, Lewis and Rankin 🤣🤣😂🤣

        • @Cumberland Eel

Read the whole post CE, put it in context the way it was explained.....you really are a "dumbass"

    • Lewis who coached SG Ball to a GF?

We could have Wayne Bennett himself in there and you would say "He's to old"

All coaches have to start somewhere. Even Andrew Webster started here and only got some sort of respect since he was at Penrith before Warriors. If Webster entered the box at this time you would say the same exact thing.

    • It's about trying to align everything from our junior rep sides through to first grade. The club is focusing on playing a similar style of footy in lower grades as they do in NRL to make it easier for juniors when they are promoted to NSW Cup and NRL. This has been driven by Ryles. You'll even have the junior coaches sitting in on NRL meetings and at NRL training.

      • That's encouraging to hear, but also a little bit scary that a rookie coach had to come in and drive changes like that.

        • That is a fair point actually, yeah.

      • Can I ask was this done with BA? Don't think so

    • Hey , they're sitting with a guy who learnt off Bellamy Yaknow ....

"The Blues don't look as on top without Mitch. Cleary isn't an Origin player.
I'll be happy for him to play in Sydney (if fit), win it then decline future selections."
