Sarantinos on the Tip Sheet

Some of you might be interested in watching the first hour of the cumberland throw podcast that I am sure you are familiar with. They interview Sarantinos.

I am still watching it but a few interesting things especially regarding recruitment that I know people here are obsessed with:

1. The likes of Talataina and Polley are tied up long term apparently.

2. Club has cap space and is looking for forwards mainly.

3. Also they want to "sure up" the hooking position, which can mean signing up Riley or still trying to buy a 9

Not related to recruitment but he's mentioned the likes of Josh Hodgson and Mitch Lewis spend time in coaching box during NRL matches. I like this. I hope Rankin does too. This might be a nice way to prepare successors to Ryles in the future from within.

Decent watch.

          • Galvin was $1.03 to play with us also.

          • But is still contracted, until anything is confirmed he would have to still include him even if he knows Lane is set to move on. Legally, if Lane is to move on for personal reasons, he would need to.

            • I wonder if the club needed the cap space they'd approach Lane for a cap friendly buyout.

    • Wow that is depressing

      • Most certainly. Well it is the Temu Eels 🤣

    • Gotta be upgrades. Ryley Smith, Latu maybe? Matto will leave I am certain too.

That is 3-4 places. I cannot see us signing more than 3 players in the off-season. Forward or two, maybe a back.

  • Interesting they say that Sarantinos is the one who approached them about doing this podcast.

    • Must be in damage control mode. My guess would be the corp sponsors and corp box holders are not too happy with the status of the team and I wouldnt be surprised if there is another petition that gets circulated again

    • That's incorrect.  They asked for him to become available sometime during the season.

      • Yeah but he approached them to do it now. It's probably nothing but doesn't strike me as something this corporate lot do going around looking to be on podcasts.

"He should not even be in the equation. It's obvious the Cleary will be out and so should Moses. The state of Origin should either scraped altogether or played at seasons end or every 2nd year. My personal opinion is do away with it "
