Should eels make a play for Sandon Smith, Roosters will let him go with DCE coming in next year. They rate Savala & Rodwell with Walker as futures.

I see we could use Smith as a 14 role. Also kicks goals. Very quick.

Ryles would have a relationship with him from being at Roosters.

Interesting that we need a 6, if eels make no play for him, kinda shows we have Galvin (on a handshake deal at best).

  • clarify, i know we have Dylan Walker in 14, but he could be used as a lock role

  • I wouldn't mind him. I like your idea of using him as the Dylan Walker type.

I think we might go for Galvin, but if we don't then I see the club waiting on Fletcher, Talataina to mature into the halves. Until they do, I can see us signing a guy like Sandon Smith or Bevan French that can play multiple roles but can do well in the 6 for a small period.

    He's a good player anyway.

    • Bevan French will not return to Parra and no way would he play as a utility for any club he goes to.

  • If we don't get Galvin, sure I wouldn't mind him as a 6 next to Moses. He's not the finished product.

  • I dont care if we have got Galvin for next year get Smith any way as you said be good off the Bench and a good back up for Moses or Galvin

    • I'm not sure that he is not a better player than Galvin already.

My guess is Sandon would get 500/600 with a new club and see himself as a starter.

Galvin will cost close to 1m based on the alternate offer he gets from Tigers. We get Sandon Smith straight away next year, so the replacement is in, whereas we might still have to wait a year for Galvin.

      All makes sense to me.

    • Smith would be able to get a run as a starter wherever he goes. I doubt he would come to Parra to be a 14.

  • I'd only grab him if I couldn't get Galvin earlier, that's the key for us from the looks of things Galvin is who the club wants so I don't think Smith is even on the table.Good player plenty of promise but as above I think the clubs already made its bed on who the Brown replacement is.

Even if I had to play Walker at 6 next year and it leaves me cash to get a back rower or left centre.

    • Galvin at the moment is such a sticking point as you do not want a stop gap, but at same time do not want a long term option and miss out on Galvin as this is where he wants to be as mentioned by my connections and media. Luai is biting his tongue for Benji and good of the team with Galvin but once Fainu is back i wonder what happens there if they develop him instead. Makes no sense keeping Galvin for this year and next and having Fainu sitting in NSW Cup then in 2027 he comes in but is raw still. Hit the ground running with Fainu he is the future.

As for Walker at 6, it is a good option but i also feel he is so important at 13 on the backend of the first half for us. He will free up Moses and Galvin so much in 2026.

  • Go for the Newcastle number 6 he killing it in a crap side. They would not be happy losing him for Brown.
