Such a shame, the kid had potential. Sticky would be throwing coin at him in desperation because the only decent half he's ever had has realised he's not winning anything there and decided to go to South's.
What a way to throw away a promising career...
My prediction: He will be churned out of their system within 2 years (Stuart has no patience and can't coach halves) and will be lucky to get another contract.
That's why there are 50 future immortal halfbacks thatve come out of Newcastle over the years since Andrew John's retired and took up being a specialist halves coach......
The most naturally gifted players are usually the worst coaches and the guys thatve had to work their arses off are usually the best. Ricky Stuart keeps having to buy halves that someone else has developed.
How many players have destroyed their career by chasing coin before they have done anything at the top level? The kid risks destroying his long term career by leaving and earning the right for big money. He could have stayed at Parra and got his way into the NRL team as a 14 to start with for a year or two, got used to the rigours of the NRL before then decifding whether there was a long term option at Parramatta or look for opportunities elsewhere.
Only time will tell if he's made the right decision. .
"Mate, Michael Fililava has talent no question. He sits around 130Kg mark. He gets gassed very quickly and about 10 minute stints is how he is used. In todays game, middles need to churn out much bigger minutes, off memory may have played 1-2…"
"Chiefy (above) suggest the Storm might offer $500k as reasonable and the court might "dictate" the Eels to accept that as a fair amount. Again this is a lawyer question, but while NSW courts can "read down" clauses in restraint of trade cases, I…"
"Some more juniors going elsewhere ...
Fizz Latapu, Michael Fililava and Lorima Saukuru have all decided to take their talents to St George.
Are these guys a loss we can't afford or were they additional to our needs?"

As he should. Good on him, smart move.
Why stay and play reserves for another 5 years when you have a better chance to play first grade elsewhere. Halves are in great demand.
I'm not opposed to his decision to go, I would have just preferred to see him in a better system under a better coach.
I remember Sticky was a champion halfback in his day. He'll learn more as a halfback under Sticky than BA
He won't learn more under Stuart than he would under Barrett at Parramatta.
Players learn best from their colleagues than they do coaches.
Correct, they learn from the guy playing above and beside them. Didn't Andrew John's sucsesssor Jarrod Mullen get pinged for drugs ?
