SANDERS PREPARES TO ASK FOR RELEASE FROM EELS

Boom half Ethan Sanders could request a release from the Eels in the coming days as the 19-year-old headlines a list of the game’s hottest talents now free to talk with rival clubs.
It comes as a host of clubs have been have busily securing some of their emerging talent with the Roosters, South Sydney, North Queensland and Penrith making sure their players don’t hit the open market.
The NRL revamped its contract policy in the off-season meaning players who were off-contract but yet to play five senior games – NSW/Queensland Cup or NRL – were unable to talk with rival clubs until the end of round six. That means a host of Australian Schoolboys or interstate under-aged players are now on the market including Sanders.
The likes of Sanders have had to bide their time until Sunday night although it is expected Parramatta’s SG Ball player of the year from last season will link up with the Raiders from next season.
That could even be fast-tracked with suggestions Sanders may ask for a release next week to join Canberra before the June 30 deadline having been overlooked multiple times to make his first-grade debut in recent weeks.
Despite being a genuine half, Sanders has not been picked to fill the void left by the injured Mitchell Moses in first grade. Instead coach Brad Arthur has opted for Daejarn Asi and Blaize Talagi to partner Dylan Brown in the halves with Moses sidelined through injury.
Sanders is not alone though with about eight other players from across the NRL on either top 30 or supplementary contracts now free to talk with rival clubs.
The Roosters have taken action to stop rising young forwards Blake Steep and Ethan Roberts from fielding offers from rivals after locking down the pair to new deals before the round six deadline.

Don't know where he would play at the Raiders as their halves are doing ok.
Man wouldn't it hurt to see him walk into the Raiders side and start to cut teams to shreds !
Another nothing article filled with words like "could". Doesn't even look like they spoke to him. Again, the result of lazy journalism and the insatiable demand from Parra fans to lap it all up.

I see why he wants to leave as Moses brown have at least 4-5 years left as the main halves. Eels should try swap him for an outside back at Canberra, maybe cotric
A swap for someone like cotric would be fantastic but then our half's would be even weaker we'd also need to find another back up half
The Parramatta Eels are not just under the pump with their NRL squad, the club is also dealing with a huge junior league backlash over the banning of a number of elite 16-year-olds from playing in their local competitions because they chose to try out for other NRL clubs in Harold Matthews. This is the same club that lost boom Wests Tigers rookie Lachlan Galvin from their juniors. The Eels need to get their act together.
You should quote the source for this....it came out of Buzz's column.
Next you should explain what this means....its actually a tricky one and essentially a catch 22. Tradition has it that its very hard to get into the Parra reps, so the juniors try out with other clubs to see how they go there.
I would like the argument to be put out so we can get an appreciation of why and how this problem still exists and what can they do about it. We could prima facie say this is one of the obvious problems with the pathways process, but that sounds too simple. There must be something more?
