WHY! I don't see any other clubs wanting to sign him at this stage. Extending the contract of a coach, who has not got his side into the finals is not only accepting mediocrity but rewarding it. Ryles might have success in the future, but our sample size of 2 years has been a failure. The current roster for 2027 is average at this stage. A top 8 finish next year would take a super coaching performance.
Yeah Slippery I understand your thoughts. He has 2 years left, I would have seen how 2027 goes before extending. There was no real rush.
But at the same time, signed til 2030, the last year is usually a club option anyway, that's common in NRL coaching contracts.
Only thing I could theorize is maybe they felt maybe Melbourne wanted him to replace Bellamy? But even then not sure that happens.
Most of these extensions have get out clauses for the club and they'll still sack you at anytime. Not a huge issue

If this is correct then it is beyond a disgrace and once again reinforces that we have the most clueless board in the game.
Ryles has shown absolutely nothing to warrant a extension yet our current board who have bottom of barrel standards for the club want to extend a coach who has achieved zero.
This board is Parramatta s biggest problem and they show this year after year. Go the Chooks .
Just remember, Fongy, if Ryles gets the team going in 2027 how will that sit with "only incompetents extended him"? You're this now (over) committed to death riding the team just to stick it to mgmt.
Any fan boxing themselves into a corner where death riding the team is their only way to save face should go over to the Chooks or some other team permanently. Discuss!
When you look at the roster over the past 2 years we were left in bad way due to poor retention on the years prior the squad he inherited was poor. We lose our star five eighth, our big signing decides he wants to sign with rugby we had over 190 weeks of injuries this year. Realistically where did we see our selves finishing? I think we all had blinders on. I don't believe any coach with the cards we were dealt could of delivered a season could of done much better.

Smart decision, he needs to feel comfortable to get the best out of this roster. Looks like they have big plans to get some players in for 2028. Those players want to know who their coach will be in order to sign. Someone like Best won't sign if they don't have some security on what the joint will look like during his contract at the club. It's a strategic signing and it's smart, good decision by the board.
