Ryles the Super Coach

So the supercoach has come up with run hard, tackle hard. The play book for any U13 dad coach. No shape,no defensive structure and no attacking plays at all.In the first time since watching the game 1977 I have turned a Parra game off.Ryles offers absolutely nothing on either side of the ball and definitely not attracting players to the club.Even the basket case Dragons have signed Keo, Drinkwater and Sami.WTF are we doing.Pretty much the same as Arthurs with no offloads.Rubbish.Not even close to adapting to the way the game is played now.Sack Ryles.

      • Blue Eel, I think neither Broncos or Warriors have lost players right across the park like the Eels have? Broncos missing some forwards but kep most abcks (Walsh aside)? Warriors losing halves but had replacement halves and were able to move CNK around the backline to plug holes?

The Eels seem to have lost not just forwards or backs, but both forwards and backs, and it would be interesting to count "changed combinations" in addition to what they normally count (missed games and used players, etc). The Eels have had constantly new centre-wing combinations and contstantly new half-backrower combinations, on top of big outaghes in their middles and losing their fullback too.

PS: ultimately none of us are in the mood for more mediocre seasons, so we are inclined toward "no excuses". But the forced changes have been horrific. Also, the Eels gave negative narratives a giant legup by failing to come oout of the blocks in Round 1

        • Nailed it Daz. Agree with everything you said. Broncs do have Payne Hass, Walsh, Hunt all out with Reynolds limping around with that groin injury.

      • We have 10 out and Fletcher (doesn't really count because he was never a FG option). Keeping in mind that Russel and Tuilagi were unavailable last game. Smith coudlnt finish the last game either. Fox, Paulo and Moses playing injured. Pensini and Volkman are only couple games back from soft tissue injuries. Now D Walker is injured too. Apparently Samrani is back so it will still be 10 out for next game if Walker is injured. Cant forget we have a 700k forward enjoying doing nothing.

Broncos injury list just got bad the past 2 weeks. Eels has been like this for nearly the full year.

        • Yep, and very very valid EA, shame about round 1. I do believe that we as Eels supporters have too easily or regulary given them the benefit of the doubt or given them a pass so to speak. We have found excuses and genuinely believed in them. I have been this person since our last premiership, a unicorn, we have been good at that. The she'll be right mate, when so and so gets back, we will be better, Too many of us havnt asked the hard questions, i'm begining to do that now, and last year.  Not out of spite, not out of hate for any particular person, but because i want them better, i want a winning culture, I feel it's time to hold them accountable, to demand better work ethics, better negotiations for contracts. For me it's now time to find people in power that know what winning championships is like. They don't know what they don't know so to speak. They talk a great game in the R&R, but miss out on too many signings that ryles wants, we are left with having to love players that arnt up to it. To me it's time to open our eyes and really understand how far apart we are from clubs / teams that are really in the hunt to play finals footy. Just making up the numbers for the top teams to play against, and using our huge fan base to make $$ through tv deals, merchandise sales etc no longer cuts it for me. I just want better for all of us.

      • Blue Eel, i respect your opinions mate, but lets be honest, Brisbane have half a team of rep players; we have Paulo and Moses.......and Carr?

        • Mitchy, I did reply and bloody deleted it while fixing up some spelling mistakes. I'll try again.

Your spot on Mitchy and what you say is exactly my point. We have been promised that we are a powerhouse waiting to happen. Across the whole club, we are kicking great goals and improving all facets of training centres, Playing Stadiums, resources all across the club, money and sponsers coming in, one of the largest fan bases in the NRL. So what is missing, why are we not like Brisbane in the talent dept. Thats on R&R, the team makeup, the lack of talent in the playing roster, the identifying and keeping exceptional juniors, the signing of elite players or missing out on them that can be directly fingerprinted to one core group. It consists of 4 people. Sarantinos, Ryles, Rogers and O'Neill. They make up the R&R comittee.

All we need is someone to work out what is going wrong or what needs to be improved within that committee of 4 people. Who do we trust, who needs help, who needs more education to be upskilled, who identifies if we need to change that structure and include a new position of Special Negotiator for contracts etc. Our direct playing roster and our lack of stars like a Brisbane can be directly pinpointed to this committee, we just need someone to recognise what's wrong within this committee to be able to sign whom they target within reason, and fix it, upskill it, add to it. Whatever, but if we improve this committee we add the last piece of becoming the powerhouse club we have been promised.

          • I can agreed mate; and I've not been a fan of MON and would've hoped when JT started that they gave him a new MON.
My concern is we've lost these players now and there doesn't appear to be anyone news of added depth here albeit JR said at meeting before season that they need certain type players etc who meet the needs.

            Future is now.
Like some here I've mentioned before they need a Matt Cameron type and get him.
