            • And what part of what I said was wrong? He told us he was too good to play for us long term but we still gave im a contract. Its just weak after Ryles continually told us all year he will only play blokes that want to be here. Then to lie and say they always wanted him for a year is weak as piss and  weakens his credibility and even team cullture.

              • I might be completely wrong but do you think that the good run of form to end the season made Ryles change his mind ? Maybe he thinks this group is closer then even he expected? A slight adjustment to plans but adding Pezet might give them that extra push they need for 2026

              • Do you think Ryles uses him as Dean Hawkins replacement to.play the same role? In that scenario it wouldn't hurt team culture.   Or do you feel he'll start with Pezet at 6 from the get go,  and only use Joash if there's injury or if we are out of finals contention.

Im with you on the team culture part, thats why im thinking that we might start by keeping Joash at 6

I totally understand the team culture view.

                • Could have stayed at Melbourne and backed up Hughes and Munster who are both building an injury history. He will definitely be a starter for us, back up Moses at 7 then probably Joash will fill in at 6.

Team culture is hard to build but easy to destroy. I think Ryles loses credibility in the eyes of the fans and the playing group. All year we heard about wanting guys who want to be here then he signs a mercenary. He got a lot of praise for his moves this year so he has to take some heat for this one.

                  Off season is for ranting!

                  • I think Joash will start. Pezet will start in reserve grade

                    • Why? Did u watch Anastas podcast? Highly unlikely he would move to Parra for one year to play reggies when he could do that in Melbourne.

      • What would you call it?

At the end of the day we miss out once again at the final hurdle on a target we identified and pursued hard. I'm not guessing when I say there is a pattern forming

Plus Braith said the opportunity to play for a powerhouse club like Brisbane with Walsh and Mam etc was too good to pass up. He also said the Pezet and Ryles are extremely close and talk fortnightly. Just listen to it and make your own mind up

        • He thinks we are not a powerhouse club as if we haven't been around for decades, with the biggest facility in the NRL and teams keep cherry picking our juniors. While everyone looks down at the Eels and mainly because our managers are weak. They should of told Braith and Jonah piss off and go find another 6, I hope the deal doesn't go through somehow

        • What about the dollars and the fact Pezet wants to play 7.  Did you take this into consideration ?  You're guessing.   Take a chill pill

    • You say another recruitment blunder by the club but Ryles recruitiment moves so far have all been positive.  Obviously he will get some calls wrong and this may be it but let's wait and see.

Once we were beaten for the long term signature Ryles had to make a choice.  Blood Lorenzo early, stick with Joash, Hawkins, Volkman or take Pezet for a year.  Pezet seems to be the better option.

Ryles openly admitted we didn't have the players who could play the style of footy he wanted this year.  He obviously thinks Pezet can do that and set us up going forward for 2027.  Someone who can follow his game plan and structures will make Smith and TDS role easier and also help Kautonga on the edge.

"Bit of a shame we're losing Hawkins. He was the best backup 7 we've had in a while and done a great job while Moses was out.
Does that mean Volkman moves to 7 and Joash moves to 5/8 in NSW Cup?"

"These guys are pro athletes, not office workers. Their reputation is part of what motivates them.
As for Papalii, he will still be at the club in 2027. Moses will probably miss half the year so Papalii will get plenty of game time."
