Smith has been given about 55 mins in his first 2 games, that could easily be pushed out to about 60 - 65.. He starts then gets a break about 10 before half-time. I'd rather his replacement have fresh legs at that time of the game than Hopgood who's been busting his balls for 30 mins.
I would not put Papali'i at 6. He is 5"5, imagine Olakau'atu running at him? Plus has played way more Fullback than 5/8. So he would not be used to defending as much as he would need to in 5/8.
"Lorenzo is the long-term halves option and Twidle sees himself as a half. Would you rather lose Lorenzo? You're going to see more of this as new clubs enter the competition. Any young guy that performs is instantly going to have their value…"
"This will come back to bite us. So basically we invested/wasted in a rookie Pezet for a year. We don't give Lorenzo a run and now we let go one of the more versatile youngster, who we could have trialed at no.6 or in the centres. "
"No offence EA but everytime ive watched Twidle he just oozes class. Another one of these "not consistent" or "not ready" players. I'll tell you who hasn't been consistent in 1st grade for 7 or 8 seasons now, Brian Kelly. What have we got to lose…"

Maybe Ryles should train up one of the forwards to give Smith a rest at dummy half, possibly Doorey?
Why waste time and resources for that though? Hopgood can do it and is in the team everyweek.

I do think 4 forwards on the bench will help
