One of my clients who is one of their sponsors told me this morning before Christmas, Ryan Matterson approached John Skandalis and asked him to approach Benji about a potential return.
Matto apparently said he had no issue with the Tigers - just Madge.
Benji obviously said no, and then Matto eventually activated his clause.
This chap doesn't want to be here. He pulled a similar stunt at Wests when he wanted out pulling out injured all the time.

I have said it over and over again, the only reason Matterson is at theEels right now is because he enacted his player option. Not one club was interested in his services when he was available. The club saved face by saying Ryles had backflipped and now wanted him to stay after originally telling him he was not wanted.
This story does not surprise, as he shopped himself to all clubs with no takers. A damaging player at his best and with the right attitude, unfortunately that form and that attitude has been lost in the main.
I wonder how long he is happy to stay in NSW cup?
He might be happy playing there, earning the same money but an easier job?
Though surely after a while you want to play FG.
Oh do you think he'll actually play for long down there. mmmmmm I can smell some type of injury popping up at late notice to keep him positioned nice and warm on the sidelines, with a wallet full of cash.
Matterson has a massive ego. Keep him in NSW Cup and he'll eventually request a release. Easy.
