Maybe if they're still 18 or 19 and playing Flegg they might have potential, but really they should be playing reserve grade at least by that age. Outside backs mature much earlier than forwards…"

Hopefully it's a try before you buy type deal. However, I bet we will need to stump up half the cost.
Member-first News: Parramatta Eels release Ryan Matterson
Parramatta Eels release Ryan Matterson for the 2025 season
Parramatta Eels have released Ryan Matterson from his playing contract for the 2025 season effective immediately, paving the way for an opportunity at Warrington Wolves in the English Super League.
Matterson remains contracted to the Eels for the 2026 season.
Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said, “this is an opportunity for Ryan to explore new challenges and broaden his professional experience in the English Super League.''
The club extends its best wishes to Ryan for his time with Warrington.
PS - Good news here for me; its a win win for the club. I cannot see him coming back unless he cannot get a good paying gig.
Just keep on releasing without actually signing a single decent replacement.
FMD we are run by dumb fuckwits. They sign these overpriced players and then get lumped with their salary a few years later.
Fastest way to become the next Newtown Jets.
They are clearing up a lot of cap space moving on from the old forwards but yeah need to sign some targets
Yes Frank let's sign someone now with 7 games left, who do you have in mind?
What if he didn't want to be here? Just keep him for sake of it?
You knock us for overpaying players and getting lumped with their salary for years, but when we move them on it is knocking them for not replacing them.
He meant a signing for 26 and beyond that's better than a 35yo bloke a fellow run of the mill club no longer wants.
This
Who is to say we are not having signings for 26? But here is the thing, Matterson was not even being used as it was so not really need a replacement for someone not being used.
Spin it as positive as you need to LB and we shall see in a few months, I guess.
I hope we do sign a few very good players but I have no confidence in the club being able to attract anyone above average. I fear we will be hoping like hell EA and Sonic Boom's scouting notes are spot on about a lot of these young guys.
The club has given me absolutely zero confidence in them doing anything except bean counting and looking good politically correct wise.
Well i think most of the squad will be on the juniors. Only issue with juniors is it will take probably 2027-28 til we see the best ones coming in. Will Ryles still be here?
