There are 8 new rule changes in the NRL this season. It wasn't that long ago that there would be no new rules introduced in 8 years. I used to think the game's administrators moved too slowly but now the number of new or changed rules each season is getting out of hand. Those who follow the game less fanatically than your average 1EE member must really have difficulty keeping up with them.
The 2 changes that have been great for the game in the modern era are imo the 40 20 rule and doing away with the contact with the corner post as a reason to disallow a try. These rule changes have received universal praise as being of tremendous benefit to the game but they were touted for years by Sterlo(40 20) and Andrew Voss(corner post) before they were introduced. Much too long I thought but now things have changed greatly.
Who agrees or disagrees and what rule changes do you love or hate.

Back to back to back tackle recounts. Penalty after the second offence.
I just wrote a blog on the six again rule Alan, hopefully it can be read in a complimentary role to what you are saying here.
Balance is the key.....we never want to destroy our game the way Rugby Union has.
Poppa, this blog never really got off the ground and I didn't help much by not being online after posting today. I wrote it on the spur of the moment but I only arrived back in Sydney last night, I live in Melbourne now, after having several plans to visit thwarted by the pandemic over the last 12 months. Haven't been back since I drove up to see the finals game where we smashed Brisbane 58 blot so today was catching up with the in laws and their families.
I give more thought to planning any blogs in the future and sorry to those whose replies to me went unanswered today.
I wouldn't be too worried Alan, sometimes they take off.... I wrote a blog once and no one posted anything for 24 hours and then it took off.
Nothing wrong with your blog and it makes an intelligent discussion peice, sometimes the intelligent ones are not the most prolific that people like to post on.
You give a lot of discussion that adds balance here Alan.
Thanks mate.
Can you clarify what the 8 rule changes are?
1 thing I find is not fair at all with the Six Again rule is getting 3 in a row then dropping the ball, no advantage of what would have been 3 penalties, it happened to Parra in our trial game against the Dragons 3 six agains, drop ball dragons scored, absolutely no advantage, I like the rules but this needs tweaking,
This is from the NRL site:
The changes are:
The big one I feel is the play the ball if a player with the ball goes over the sideline. I think that has finally killed off the small fast winger. We are going to get more wingers built like front row forwards in the Sivo mould.
I like that players will be forced to go off the field if play needs to be stopped. This will mean better treatment for them and will stop this being used as a stalling tactic.
I hope our players are very fit, they will need to be to keep up in the game!
2 pts for a field goal? Wtf?
From 40 out, so very low percentage play.
