          • It doesn't really say much though does it EA if Russell and Penisini are the high tide at the position how good are our centres really and Russell's off next year so we have another hole to fill.

Now if you told me we land a Paul Alamoti or someone of similar ilk then I think we could turn the corner but outside of that Kelly was a soso signing nothing to jump around bout there.

            • We have our very own Makisini/Alamoti coming through the grades. Lorima Seuseu is in his first year of HM so 16 years old in a u17 comp. I hope he skips his second year of HM and plays SG Ball next year. Alamoti did that when he was a junior. Perhaps 2028 he could be an NRL player at 18 years old. Defenisvely he is better than both Alamoti and Makisini and in attack he has loads of potential too in attack. He has been playing centre but can play fullback too. Has played 15 for the warratahs accademy too.

Hope Bloomfield, Sorovi and Rokusuka develop as well from SG ball cause they have NRL talent on them as well. Bloomfield and Sorovi are 18 and Rokusuka is 19.

Richie has bone bruise so he is injurd again. Bloke cannot say injury free.

              • Totally agree with Seuseu EA, he's a standout in Matts. He's rugged and willing in defense and does remind of Alamoti, a real threat in attack and exciting to watch. Is he any relation to a previous player of the same name who played in the past?

The 3 you highlighted from Ball are also comers and I particularly favour Rokusuka who mows a pathway thru the defence, reminescent of a young Guru.

Thanks for tipping me towards Bar EA-well worth the $20

  • The most dangerous thing about the Riff side no one here is talking about.

Defense wins championships Riff have held teams to nil this year and have had 10 points or something farken ridiculous scored against them we've had a 100 plus put on us in 3 games.Nevermind what Riff are going to do with the ball how are we going to score points to threaten these guys.

    • I have been speaking about it a bit. Not to mention those teams were Broncos, Sharks and Roosters.

    • With great difficulty Coryn-big ask and we don't have the squad they do, we can only hope the message from what we see in their performances can force us to engage with the same ferocity and stand our ground. Lets hope.

  • Pezet. Easy for Eels fans to dislike as he leaving for Broncos. If he was playing out of his skin the conversation would probably swing to critique of the club for not locking him up.

Defensively Pezet is not Dylbag$ so it's fair to say we need Pezet to improve his defense.

But in attack Pezet has been swinging both sides of the ruck to be first receiver with Moses on his outside. Why is that too different than alot of teams that try to get their creative halves to second receiver? Many of them use a middle forward to achieve the same result the Eels are often achieving, only we retain a short kick option in our setup.

Again one of those "if things were different" but if the Eels at mid-season are still at a 2/3 or better win/loss ratio, I bet conversation will have shifted to the advantages of the attacking set up.

Or put differently, the assessment of Pezet will probably track in a 1-to-1 fashion how the Eels are going?
