    • Big year for Joash, hopefully he can turn into a really good 6 like you think he can Poppa.

      • Matt Burton is my long term 6 LB. Then you are looking at Premierships. He's the seat that Pezet is warming ( I think that's the real reason they only wanted Pezet for the year?)

Our juniors at the 6 level for NRL are all perhap'sers

        • 1.Isaiah Iongi

2.Will Pensini    (probably won't happen) change with Russell. Still think Penisini would make a great winger!

          3.Sean Russell......Parra's best defensive centre....is that enough?

          4.Brian Kelly

          5.Josh AddoCarr

          6.Jonah Pezet

          7.Mitchell Moses

          8.Jmaine Hopgood

9.Ryley Smith........ our potential next superstar.....Origin and Australian Hooker, the best aerobics in the club, thats why its interesting how Da Silva fits.....Smiths comparative speed to TDS will be interesting.

10.Junior Paulo..... don't lose sight of him being 13 and doing a Samoa (not yet)....deliberate rotation with some games off further in.

          11. Kelma Tuilagi .....having a fantastic preseason....he needs to be on his toes, as this spot will have Kautoga bearing down. If we can harness this guy and get him defending he can destroy sides with his running. I think it was him that steamroled the Roosters half very early last year....reminds me of Brian Hambly steam rolling Keith Barnes. Anyone here, there for that. Leichardt Oval about 1963?

          12.Jack Williams......Thornett Medal Winner...will start

13.Jack Debelin .......definite 13 but they may use Junior there at some stage? people won't recognise our defense with him in the middle.

14.Tayln Da silva...... how they bring him into the game will be interesting

          15.Dylan Walker

          16. Charlie Guymer...... showing exponetial improvement every time he runs out, great support player, sniffs tries.

          17. Moretti................. potentially one our best forwards in waiting, will take a senior role once Junior and JDB retire

M Doorey................ This bloke is a real sleeper, fitness has been his hinderance but is having a great preseason

Kitione Kautoga.....some will be surprised, but I would still be easing him in, explosive potential undoubted. How does he fit?

Joash Papilli....... well if Moses is injured it is Pezet to half and Joash to 5/8

Samrani...... offers good depth, how much improvement is again nearly unlimited.

Bailey Simmonsson.....well he is your back up 3/4, any one of those positions. He is a better centre (much Better) than wing.

The assumptions are they will be all fit by round one nearly all those players will get time in the trials.

          • Wasn't there for 'Hambly steam rolling Barnes' but my father always talked about what a great player Hambley was. I am not too far behind you though, Poppa, my first memories of Eels start in the early 70s at Cumberland Oval

            • Thanks for that Ian, Hambly was one tough Hombre let me tell you. The amazing part of that story was Chalky Barnes (a very slight man) got up and finished the game.....rumer has it that his body imprint was still in the ground after the game LOL

        • Now that's a stratergy because it fits with Moses's timeline.I think JR wants experience he's a left sided player left foot kick he's the perfect fit, even though fans will give him the same DB rubbish when he goes missing in games nevermind the fact you have a dominant half on the other side in Moses.

Lets see if R and R have the nouse and are planting the seed now if they haven't already.

          • Let's hope so Coryn, bit of a pluck on my part but I think Burton's potential still has not been realised and I hope they continue to muck around with him....I cannot see Galvin as a long term half and he will be sniffing at Burton's 5/8 spot.....Burton is a handy centre, but a much better play making 5/8 with the left side a major advantage to us. Having 2 kickers like him and Moses presents a whole different threat than marking Moses out of the game.....another disadvantage in losing Lomax, he may have been different but definately an alternative threat, something we will not have with Pezet who is not a running 5/8 at all.

      • Don't think he's it I think they've shown there intentions at 6.

Pezets walking right into that 6 left sided spot.

        They went hunting for Galvin.

While id like to think Joash has a shot from what I'm seeing he's not it because as soon as a better option arose JRs pulled the trigger more than once in the last 6 months.Unless Joash proves me wrong I don't think he's our guy going foward.

        • I haven't thought so ever, though I hope I can be proven wrong as it means we have a great player at 6.

          • Yeah I don't think Joash would be the long term 6 and I think Lorenzo has at least two years minimum to be the long term five eight and that is close to when Moses time is finished. The eels should decide on their answer for the 6 jersey by November 1 this year if they would need to go on the market.
