  • Well may we say "God save the Queen", because nothing will save the Governor-General!

    Who remembers this day?
  • Thanks for Medicare ,Gough, thanks for the ability for all to access university education, thanks for bringing troops home from Vietnam

Thanks for allowing refugees a home free from persecution. Thanks for land rights for indigineous people.

If anybody thinks politicians aren't worth much just read into what reforms Gough Whitlam put in place that many of us take for granted.

Thanks for defying the Bourgeois elements from Britain and the USA and standing up for the rights of all Australians.

    • The current crop of pollies are not worth a damn cent. Real change for the people happened many years ago now pollies are in it to get what they can for themselves. RIP Gough, you were definitely one of the good ones.

    • The majority of reforms our modern pay politicians seem set on dismantling... *sigh*

    • Thanks for my indoor toilet
    • He did great things but just one thing, the withdrawal from Vietnam began long before Gough.
He made great reforms no doubt ........with total disregard for how to pay for any of it. I guess that's the balance of our political system.
  • Greatest PM we will ever see.

  • RIP Gough, he helped transform the the country for the better.  Unlike the clown we have now.

  • Social visionary, economic illiterate.

He swept to power after 23 years of conservative rule and changed the face of the country with a plethora of social reforms many of which we take for granted today. 3 years later he was soundly beaten in an election largely due to the economic disaster he created. As the old saying goes there is no such thing as a free lunch, someone has to pay the bill.

    RIP an Australian icon.

  • A truly great Australian and advocate /voice for the working class man.

Thanks Gough for believing that kids from less privelidged backgrounds, should be afforded a uni education too.

Made my working class Mum's life easier

Of all the reforms introduced Medicare has to be the greatest of all.

Think of the disaster that is the American health care system, and how much better we are here for Gough.

    Love this man.RIP

"I think you need to re-look at the start of the game; Brisbane had the majority of the ball in the first 20 min let alone first half, and when we got a shot at them, we scored. The game was one of the fastest I have seen and we did well to hang in…"

"3 - Mitch Moses - Can give the most credit to other plays, but quitely simply if Moses isn't there, we don't win. Especially in the last 10 minutes when we hit back in the lead. The players were buggered and Moses' kicking game was perfect. He kept…"
