Coach Ricky Stuart admits Canberra Raiders not playing at first grade standard

IN Ricky Stuart’s opinion, Canberra’s performance on Monday night was “not first grade standard”.
“We made errors that I see in NSW Cup or QLD Cup,” he added.
The unsolvable problem for Stuart’s struggling Raiders — now wallowing in equal last with Cronulla — is that neither second tier competition can offer any relief.
Despite having feeder sides in both states, Canberra cannot promote any more players this season because they’ve already exhausted the $440,000 second tier cap.
That dilemma leaves Stuart with no means to blood young players — or punish the older ones who were responsible for some dreadful errors on Monday night.
Like halfback Josh McCrone who turned over possession twice in his own territory late in the opening half, first with a chip kick and then with a mistimed pass.
Like props Brett White and Paul Vaughan, who coughed up possession at either end of the park when the Raiders were finally threatening the build momentum.
“I’ve not got any troops to make changes, to be honest,” Stuart said.
“It would be nice to give some young blokes first grade experience, but it’s not their job to pull us out of this situation. We’ve got to do that ourselves.”
All up, Canberra completed just ten first half sets, giving them no chance to upstage an opposition who treated the ball like Crown Jewels.
The irony was that Souths had to wait four minutes to touch the ball, with Canberra receiving the first two penalties and taking the conservative option of a 2-0 lead.
Stuart refused to be critical of that call on Monday night.
“We lack patience, so there’s nothing wrong with taking the two points and getting another set of six off the kick-off,” he said.

LOLL, How many times have we heard this, seems every player goes backwards under Ricky.
On another note how poorly is Brett White playing, he is a dead set disgrace this year under Ricky.
Snake if your got no confidence in the coach that would be reflected in the players performance on the field which is what is happening.
