According to the NRL law book a tap kick is "Making contact with the ball with any part of the leg (except the heel) from knee to toe inclusive; ground/territory cannot be gained from such a kick."
BUT and like every other rule in that yearly changing bog roll it is very very vage.
Every diffrent district including rep levels NRL etc have diffrent INTERPRETATIONS i kid you not.
It irritates everyone from kids, parents etc but really annoys the feckin shite outts refs.
The actual rule as taught and used by all referees untill TOLD AND MADE TO CHANGE or you wont progress is.
THE BALL MUST BE RELEASED AND MAKE CONNECTION TO THE LEG AREA OR FOOT.
To bring the ball back into play.
Always have since they invented the bloody game.
Just bs from the controlling arses.
So Sanndows version is LEGAL at all levels.
Just more bs that refs are made to do to stay in the masters good books.
No im not defending that penis ripping shite we cop reguarly or friday nite.
Just an insite into reality guys.

The rule was changed a few years ago.(no surprise there). You no longer have to release the ball when taking a tap. The ball needs to be tapped with the foot(or leg not too sure) however this is never refereed anyway. Take a look at the benji Marshall try last year against us when Gould said we were caught with our pants down. Marshall never tapped the ball with his foot. This is what infuriates me. Rugby league has rules which they turn a blind eye and don't enforce yet something like what happened on Friday night is. Wtf? No wonder no one knows what's going on in the game.
"Hearing that as well. I wouldn't be happy if I was Thomas Jenkins... either way MON and Ryles need to have their pulse on this. We are in desperate need of better centres. "
"There are also statements saying the bulldogs won't stand in his way. This is the story every single time. He has never spoken to anyone, it's all bullshit, he knows nothing. While he is packing his locker and signing the release forms during his…"

Nope, the ball must touch the foot. Chrissy stufffed it up just as much as the ball boy
No they changed the rule so that the ball doesn't have to be released. It still must touch the foot
