RE-SIGN HORO, FLICK OAKE AND WRIGHT

Ok Eels suits, please re-sign Justin HORO and Eric GROTHE NOW!  And while you've got the meeting room in use, call in WRIGHT and OAKE and tell them their services won't be required beyond this season.

Time to get rid of dead wood, and promote more talented youngsters...O'Hanlon, Mitchell and co.

Who's with me?

  • yeah i have to agree - once i have seen Mitchell play a few times.

i have watched O'Hanlon in the under 20's and he looks good as well as the centre - J.Loko

    Horo for sure!!
  • yeah i totally agree, horo has gotten so much better and wright has beeni mproving also a speedstar
  • Cannot agree with Jono Wright. While this year of late he has had some godo games ie: Penrith and some not so good games I believe he has a future if given some regular game time in the top grade to build confidence. He has a great build for the centre which can only develop.
  • Sorry not with you, I think we should sign Oake and Wright both. Both of them will be cheap. Oake is very good defender, he never had a good chance to show that in top grade. If wright can fix his attitude in defence, he will be a very good back up.

But i am with you regarding Horo and Guru plus we should re-sign Temari aswell.
  • It's not a matter of picking one or the other. If you have get rid of players like Wright and Oake it's like eight positions we have to fill in the roster. If you can give me a better backrower than Oake for moderate money and a better centre/winger for Jono on moderate money than I'll listen to what you have to say.

Horo will be re-signed and I spoke to Jono and he was pretty confident he'd have something nutted out in the next couple of weeks as well.

And Brendan Oake has been an absolutely stand-out this year in the limited role he has had.... I view him as the long-term replacement for Hindmarsh, as that hard-working second rower.
    • we are in massive trouble if oake is considered our hindmarsgh replacement
  • Both Wright and Oake have been solid in the game time that they have been given, and I think they would both be good for our depth over the next few years, so I'd be inclined if I was the Eels to re-sign both of them as well.
  • 100% agree about Oake.
  • Nope, Wright and Oake may not be big name stars but they serve a role and ought not to be dispensed with. You do realise clubs have to have a Top squad of 25, a NYC squad of 20 and several on contract who will mostly play for Wenty, don't you?
    • well can you teach them to catch the ball and not drop it first please

"I wouldn't call Da Silva a cancer. He was happy to stick with Wests if they provided him a plan post Api but Wests just said better off going now. He wanted to stay for 2026. I wouldn't call that cancerous."

"There are a couple things to consider.
First, his asking price. Could we get him for a price we'd be happy with and allow us to build a squad and retain players we need to.
Second is whether he fits the culture Ryles is trying to build. Ryles is…"
