So we all wondered and thought how de Belin was going to be used, seems not at all. I give credit to Ryles who doesn't much around. No matter how many games, contract status you are not in the 17 if you are not good enough. Kelly seems to be in the same boat. They have missed on recruitment so far this year and that will happen. de Belin and Kelly can still have an impact off the field with juniors however.

I reckon the ruck 6 again nonsense will stop soon. All these nrl crackdowns are short lived. JDB could still prove to be useful. It's a long season.
I was saying to someone the other day, Do you think origin will be reffed anything like they are now with the six again touch footy.
De Belin and Kelly were both placeholder signings till the next batch are ready. Both are 30 or above. They'll be used this year when needed and the more time they spend with us they'll pickup form.
But if they don't work they don't work. No biggie.
Our young, dynamic forwards are stepping up so far. Tuivati, Doorey and we have Guymer and Moretti. That's more than enough forward options before De Belin.
They are but also placeholders for the season, not for a fortnight.
We moved on older forwards when Ryles came. Great move was the general consensus. Then due to not being able to recruit talented forwards and missing out on several, we were stuck with signing Debellin at 35years old. He was always only a bad game or two from dropping down the pecking order. He is a stop gap signing whilst our Juniors developed more and or we signed someone better. The real problem isnt having JDB as a backup forward it's that our R&R keep missing targeted players, leaving us having to scramble for has beens and nearly NRL standard players.
If R&R could get some wins in the contract dept, our team would look a lot more like a top 4 side, then they do now. At the moment we are a long way off.
