Repeat Sets

Is it just me or does anyone think we could be more potent in attack if we went for more a few repeat sets?

I mean why don't Sandow or Norman ever just put the ball in the in-goal and get the ball back? It just seems like we are always trying to go down and get a try every set and then get a little frustrated when it doesn't come off. Look at the Rabbitohs tonight and most teams this year. Parra are good on their own line defensively, much than previous years, but at some stage something has to give.

  • Exactly I was thinking the same thing when watching the game. Our last tackle options were terrible compared to the oppositions.
  • I would love to see the stat for Parramatta's forced repeat sets against the repeat sets against Parramatta.

  • Only smart sides can get repeats and apply pressure. At a Parra we prefer to absorb 6 sets on our own line then roll the dice in an all or nothing play in the opposition 20.
  • absolutely right. I was thinking the same thing. I can't remember us getting a repeat set of 6 once this year from putting the ball in goal.
  • x1million

We would have to be near the bottom in getting repeat sets. We aren't putting enough pressure on opposition defences.

Our defence is solid, but we put too much strain on ourselves by doing a lot of defence near our line.

    • x2million

Our lack of composure in attack and dumb mistakes, let the opposition off the hook time after time.

It's almost like they have a death wish they make it so hard for themselves and it's become habit.

  • We have been hopeless at it for years. If a try is possibly on, go for it - run the play but if not... go for the repeat and reload. We seem to prefer to just let things fizzle out.

    • Exactly.

Our inability to do this is really starting to get under my skin.

  • Opposition play the balls are way quicker than ours and I mean every team we play against are. We are always on our backs and that is disappointing considering we have some big boppers.
  • It would help having a halfback ready to receive the ball and kick on the 5th, but instead he likes to run on the 4th and get tackled, and is therefore not in position.

Hard to compare but I think the right edge looked better with Samrani on the weekend. There is no doubt Will has alot of talent but he looks like one of those players who would excel somewhere else since his debut he hasn't really been challenged for…
