Reflection blog

Ok so coming to an end of a season and this being another year of me on this site, there have been so many times i have had a rough road on here. That is a part of the fun of this site at times. Over the time, compared to when i first came on in late 2013, i have changed in my approach to certain things. That was reflecting on certain feedback given by those who have commented on my blog posts. I used to just write essays about anything and everything. Recently, also due to demands of life, i have significantly cut back. To the point where some have private messaged me asking if i am all good and why i stopped posting blogs. I came to the realisation that most of the blogs i did, were just not needed to be in depth. The amount of times this year i have started a blog then halfway through just delete it as either it is not turning out how i planned, or the topic itself turned out to be not as interesting or just got bored of it myself and left it. I have less time to do proper blogs as well.

Many i know would be cheering to that, and that is fine. Though one thing i do like doing is listening to those opposite myself and then researching further to either change my view or strengthen my view further. I am open to feedback and even improving in knowledge and taking more of a simple approach in certain things. I did have someone claim i try to please posters, more so everyone on this site i treat normally. If someone abused me on one post but asked a question on another i would answer respectfully. I have clashed with many here but the next day would just reply to them just like nothing happened. That was the way i was brought up to be.

But the main reason for this blog is to ask, is there a series of blogs that you would like to see someone do and i might consider doing them. I have wanted to do some sort of weekly series or installment that i could prepare for. And secondly, myself give me any feedback you have of myself in terms how i post. I know some will be harsh, oh well there is nothing in life that is 100% perfect or widely accepted as amazing.

Please let me know.

    • Well those words make me feel awkward on how to respond. But i appreciate it.

As for blogs on JF and SG ball, i wouldn't want to step on the toes of EA who does it so well and has better access to the lower grades as i do. But yeah love reading about the juniors.

      • Thanks for those kind words LB and Bluey!

I think you are doing fine LB. I focus on your blogs because you have your finger on the pulse. I am also critical when I disagree over something and we all need constructive criticism, especially me.

I try not to be absolute and also I look at alternative views.

Last night I specifically watched Pezzett with a view of his potential to come to us. No doubt Ryles has had a fair bit to do with him on his way through the Melb mix of development.

I am still not convinced he is exactly what we need, players like him tend to develop within a system. Loosely I will use Blake Talagi as an example, his being nursed through Penrith is a tremendous accolade for the the Cleary's. If he stayed at Parra, I don't think we would have been able to do that.

Now the contradiction is we are doing it, firstly with Joash Papilli as he is fundamentally a better player than Blaize, there I go, speaking in absolutes (which I dont  like doing). Joash has as a fullback  much more initiative and skill in the air. Joash at 5/8 is showing short term, better defensive skills. The attacking side is still subjectively open. I will take Joash at this stage.

I am going to leave the discussion open from this point but I am not convinced on Pezzett's running game, his 40/20 kicks were elite, his general kicks not elite, his defence was very good......

Here is a good opening for your blog LB if you want to copy this post into an overall heading i.e. The 5/8 Dilemma or a fortune of riches and opportunities. See my previous comments on Ponga.

        • The 5/8 Dilemma is actually a goodtopic for a blog. So much to think about and discuss on that one.

  • I can never keep track of our ex-juniors LB.

    • There is a lot of Star Wars in you Randolph..... if only we could harness the good over your evil? LOL

Alternatively you could recognise your ignorance and seperate it from what you do know and get a more complete persona in the process.

Just change your name to Luke and and stay away from the "darkside".

      • As anyone who knows me IRL could tell you,....

        You Get the Whole Cat

      • ...and I would change my name to Cassian....Then I'd show Bix my bag of Jedi sex trix

    • As in like say who were former juniors who left to other clubs? Like Gallen for example?

      • Yeah LB. The One's we lost....the one's we threw away...The one's who panned out for others, and ones who didn't ever kick Would holding onto more jnrs have made us better or worse long-term. Do we actually have a prolific nursery, or do we just have large numbers of participants

"One of Pezet's biggest strengths  is his kicking game. Looking at how dominant Mitch is I would imagine they would clash.
Even though I like Pezet, I feel like we need a running 5/8 to complement Mitch's game so it provides diffuses of attack.…"

"If we chased Burton I'd have him at centre. He's a big body out wide but can also drift in around the ruck as another 5/8 option, one each side of the ruck. He looked more dangerous in the centres last night than he has at 5/8 recently "
