Being reported by Fox that Reed Mahoney has been told he's free to look for another club effective immediately. I'm thinking cowboys snap him up and that opens up the Sandon smith to parra door.

I wouldn't get too excited, from runs on the board Mark O'Neill won't be able to get a deal done if any other club is after Sandon, His record when their is more then just our club in the race is bordering on atrocious.
I would go for Mahoney. Ryles looked at Brailey then Starling, so i believe he is wanting another Hooker, use Smith as a 14 option. NQ could go for him but they were offered him earlier when Robson signed and they said no thanks. I think Cowboys are trying to save some cap as they have Cotter, Nanai, Drinkwater, Dearden, Purdue (soon), Taulagi all to sign. Sandon Smith makes sense at Hooker for them as a cheap alternative. Plus Mahoney would want to go immediately as he will be playing NSW Cup for Dogs it seems, Cowboys have Robson playing full 80. Where is us could use him now, yeah we have Smith but can use him at 14 and have Walker as an extra forward on bench.
Mahoney is a great Hooker, he adds mongrel, has a beautiful pass, experience in NRL and big games also experience with Moses.
Sorry LB got to disagree Big time if that was to happen you can kiss Ryley good bye. I know for a fact Reed is not the flavour of the month with a lot of our boys . Keep him well away from the Eels
Mahoney's made his bed and now has to lie in it. If we are remotely serious about building on youngsters and moving forward JR and co would have to be looking at Smith, Pezet, Duffy, Papalii, Sexton, Savala, even Sanders
I remember when Joey was here as a halves coach and we had Gutho, dyl, Mitch and reed he stated "one player is very difficult to work with". Fingers always pointed towards Reed. He is a pest on the field and I have a feeling he may be a pest off the field aswell
"Opportunities are there to be taken LB, go for them son......are you sure "all of them are" Frank the Tank reckons he has 14 inches of blue steel sharpened and in the scabbard. Mind you that was about 10 years ago, its probably a bit tempered now!"
"Every club has more than 1 starting quality hooker, you need at least 2 with a decent 3rd option. Hookers carry a heavy workload in the middle among the big boys, they tend to get injuries. "

I never answer to you in any form Wizardry, Randolph couldn't hire a fire hose at a bonfire and Tank starts laughing because that's what mates do.
So be it!"

We'll be waiting forever for MON to pull off a signing coup.
The only thing he is good for pulling off are his 👖.
Brilliant Badger

Smith will overtake Mahoney within 2 years there is absolutely no point going for him

Mahoney is made to look good by a fit and mobile dogs pack. He mostly ends up at the back of a tackle when made.
Sandon is not the answer either. Promote within now, if Twiddle is an option then give him a run later in the year.
We need destructive edge runners as a priority.
I'm starting to think that Kautoga and Williams are our starting edges, so we need two good middles.
