As a lifelong fan, I am fuming tonight. Firstly, well done to the Dragons, you were the better team and won the game tonight. Well played. I am absolutely appalled at the the NRL at the same time, however will also state our team needs to be big enough to overcome the rubbish the NRL serves us up. Sad, but true. The new rules allow referees to influence the outcome of the game far too much without review. Six again flow on, time and time again with no review. How convenient when these decisions are not open to review, nice work NRL. The inconsistencies in the referreeing standards and decisions, make me sick. Complete lack of consistency and I am am sure fans from all Clubs feel the same. This is not just an issue for the Eels, I am referring to the greater game and based on the games that I have watched this season, plenty suffer and it actually ruins the integrity of the contest. How bloody hard can it be to get officials to apply the same rules to every team the same? More technology than every before and these clowns still make a joke of the rules and the game. Is it negligence, arrogance or something else?
Next, our wins this year have been far from convincing. Yes, like all fans, winning is wonderful, but most of our wins have been a battle if people are true to themselves. Our eels have a long, long road ahead, based on the first five games. Yep, the wins are always wonderful, but tell me in all honesty how many of them have been convincing? Yep, we have ground out some wins and that is fantastic, but some of those games should have evolved into floggings. They don't and why, when other teams do?
Same issues still exist. Yep, only round five and hoping this loss might just be the reality check some of this squad need. Not going to say we are not enough, we have the crew, the talent and the ability, but if we take tonights effort and attitude, we are sadly just the same Parra of the last 30 plus years. Still have a heap of rounds to build, but OMG I am so sick of getting filthy on my team for games that we simply should have won. It is like ground hog day!
Yes, consider this a vent, and will still be as passionate next week!

No patience in building the game, they want to score on every tackle. They had Dragons on the ropes in the second half but they kept looking for the miracle play, when all they needed to do was get a repeat set. Tire out the Dragons pack and points would have come.
We are no better than we were last year.
We were lucky to finish as high as we did last year but I don't see us as a genuine top 4 side this year.
We are looking more like a 8th to 10th placed side.
We know that the Dragons like to get physical yet we went into this game with only one prop on the bench.
Will Smith is a handy sub for injured halves but other than that he is a waste of a bench spot.
Cartwright played at the same level he played at the Titans and Stone offers nothing.
We should have gone into that game with at least 3 props on the bench instead of gassing RCG and Paulo.
I still back BA but his bench selection has always been questionable and tonight was no different.
It must be an absolute nightmare being you BEM.
We are better than last year.
We weren't lucky to finish as high as we did last year, we earned our 3rd place by banking wins in the first half of the season.
We would have to have a catastrophic run of injuries to finish 8-10.
Our issue tonight wasn't the construction of the 17, it was a lack of composure & patience.
Our bench was fine, Carty went OK, Kaufusi & Stone were good.
Hold your nerve, we weren't going to go 24-0.
Agree Brett, composure and patience. The no try due to Paulo supposedly obstructing was a real momentum killer. If that try was allowed IT might have been a closer outcome.
Running the ball at Lomax and Ravalawa with there superior defense was the biggest mistake that Bushy can't see. Even the simple cutout ball to Sivo was missing to night.
Why didnt we push the ball down the other wing targetting Bird and Ramsey. With Junior Paulo running out side centre is beyond me.
Bushy once again showing how out of his depth he is
It's funny how you only show up when we lose.
Why is that ?
Because some people aren not romantic dreamers like you. Wake up Brett !
'Negative Nancies' only come out with an Eels loss Brett.
Bushy? Yawn. #oldstory #bandwagonwheneelslose
did you not see the game?
Pretty sure there was a helluva lot of attack down ramsey's side and I don't recall many kicks going to the opposite wing.
Fergo kept attacking ramsey but kept dropping the ball or going into touch.
Bird shut down a lot of the plays as well.
Maybe you dont watch the games.
