R27 team list v Knights: Moses is Back with his Old Partner in Crime, Dylbags

I like it. Any player who gives the Eels seven years of NRL service, close to 150 games, and over a decade in the system deserves some respect and in my view a symbolic sendoff.

Dylan Brown sits around 30th or so in all-time appearances for the Eels. That’s more than Steven Edge and almost as many as Paul Taylor and Eric Grothe Senior. No, he didn’t quite reach his potential. No premierships. Players are people. They make mistakes. But service still counts for something.

When offered a mid-season exit, Dylan chose to stay. He wanted to stick it out. He was willing to play hooker, centre, six, whatever Ryles asked. He would’ve played prop or wing. Not all players are wired that way. Some are prima donnas.

I still have doubts about him as a seven. Fair dinkum, even Mitch Moses, who "loves him to death" and rates him highly, admitted he takes "thinking" responsibilities off Dylan. But I respect the effort and the years in blue and gold. He did turn down a huge Warriors' offer earlier is his career, but the biggest deal in the NRL history was too much to turn down.

Good luck at the Knights. May he finally unlock his god-given talent and show the league the player he can be.

  If the Titans beat the Tigers on Saturday, it means the Knights have to beat us to avoid the spoon. If that happens, it may not be the cakewalk everyone is anticipating.
