Questions about Hayne's injury

For anyone that hasn't heard, Hayne is out for the remainder of the season with a grade three tear to his medial ligament in his knee therefore requiring surgery tomorrow. With the news that he requires surgery I was thinking about when Hayne hurt his knee during the warriors game and afterwards Phil Gould came out saying Hayne told him that he needed surgery. After this was publicized and became a big deal Hayne and the parramatta organisation were very vocal in saying he doesn't need surgery.

Does anyone else think Hayne and the crew at the eels all knew how risky it was for him to keep playing and that he required surgery all along and just didn't want people to know so he could keep playing? Or am I thinking into this too much? Could they have seriously let him keep playing injured like that just for the sake of winning?

  • No it was an entirely different injury. Having said that if was still not 100 percent with his ankle injury it is quite common to do another injury as your body tries to compensate. It is just one of those things unfortunately. If you waited for a player to be 100 percent you could be waiting all day. We needed Hayne on the park ASAP and we got the result we wanted. Just unlucky!
    • I do definitely agree with your comments about over compensation, but are you sure it was a different injury? I remember it always being the right knee, and he did his right knee.

  • I have said often that we must have the worst team doctor... Probably one of spagnolo bolagnaise's mates knowing our club...

Considering our development squad, bar Smith, is bare in 2026 Latu could snap up that as well."
