Quade Cooper could be a done deal for 2012

I heard Johny Gibbs talking to the two Murrays before the five O'clock news on 2UE. He was asked about the Quade Cooper saga and he said that the ARU want the Union and League contracts finalised before he jumps on the plane tommorrow. Also that the ARU want him to play in the world cup...after he finishes from world cup he will be going to rugby league and Unjion contract will be finished.

Then one of the Murrays asked him ...which club. John Gibbs replied most likely Parramatta.

The Murray then asked him...Is this the oil?

John replied this is the oil!.....but said it would be 850,000 contract when asked how much- (I dont believe the sum will be this high personally)

John Gibbs is usually on the money when he is not speculating. He was pretty sure that this was a done deal and John Gibbs' mail is pretty reliable when he says its a done deal

Personally I think 850,000 is over the top....but probably about 250,000 is through 3rd party deals.

What do you guys think....Is it true as Gibsy seems to think? Is this guy worth this money untested in the NRL? and does it mean 2011 is budget only signings to make way for Quade?

  • 850 what the fuck!????
  • $850K still reeks of shit
  • gibbsy is great, but he also said trent barrett was a shoe in for parra as well, i think 2011 is no chance now
  • thats what gibbsy said...dont forget, third party contracts could make up a substantial part of that sum if the NRL see the value of procurring such a high profile signing
  • i think the 500k offered through marque and 3rd party to be added on
  • Spot on Daniel, we would only be paying him 500k.. The rest 3rd party..
  • I walk past all of the Wallabies today at Coogee at about 4.30. Quade Cooper was right next to me, was going to yell out go Parra but i chickened out ..
  • Wouldn't Hayne be our marque?
  • Mateo should of been our 5/8 he would of been cheaper and better than this bloke.....................................................yes fullstop
  • i think we are just trying to get marquee players to the club.... all about selling memberships and bums on seats.... doesnt matter if we dont win anything.

"The chances of him being our 6 next year are very low, if he was a serious consideration he would be playing 6 now with dylan at centre. I'll be very surprised if he is our starting 6 next season unless he gets a lot more time there this season. "

"I think Joash is a good player, but from what I've seen only at fullback or on the wing. Those positions we've got pretty well covered, so I guess he's a great back up option. I'd like to see him in 1st grade, but I dont know how he fits in?"
