Proud To Be A League Man.

Watching Cronulla do their thing last night against the Cowboys brought home to me again that the essence of league is not victory but effort and performance. Of trying , of giving it a go, of not stopping, of playing with pride.

Ruby League does this better than any sport, better than any football code. Cronulla`s 17 had nothing to play for. They were shot ducks before the ball was kicked off.The bookies were giving 30 points start. Yet that 17 played a game that almost resulted in a mirical. In its way, the best game of the year that bolstered the morale of all true believers and bolstered my pride in being a league man. More power to the Cronulla 17!

  • Good blog robbie, couldnt agree more.

  • Ye agreed. Knights had nothing to play for but you wouldn’t know it watching them play. NRL league is probably the toughest sport in the world and to even compete requires incredible physical effort. So to see these players really putting in, even though there was nothing to play for but pride, is a testament to rugby league and the players. Best sport in the world simple as that.

  • They were great. You have to admire a team when it battles adversity. Take note Parra.
  • Really well said mate.Rugby league to me has always been about pride in your jumper passion never saying die and committment to your players coaches club and fans.Heart and passion out weighs talent everytime
    • Thanks defender. Its good to have so many agreeing on a positive theme.

  •  Benedict, you put much better than I.  Agree about Pricey, they threw away the mould when they made him.

  • Aye, aye Frankie. What you say is right. it was good to watch those boys last night.

  • Robert, you have the most boring avatar on this site. Good blog by the way.
    •  Slip, wait till you see the real thing! Boring does not describe it !

  • Definately agree, ive always had a soft spot for cronulla going back to there disastrous years at around the turn of the decade. I remember there team never being anything special, and thwy were smashex frequently, always af the bottom of the table, but they always showed heart and passion. Last night was a definite throw back.
