Price backs Eels' bid for Kearney

EELS legend Ray Price believesParramatta chief executive Paul Osborne's audacious bid to scalpStephen Kearney from the Melbourne Storm to replace coach DanielAnderson is justified.

"I don't think Anderson has been a good coach this year," Price said.

"Realistically I don't think he's been how he was last year and I can't say if it's him or the players reacting to him differently.

"I think he's done some dodgy things ... it's just one of those things."

Price, who played 229 first grade games for the Eels, said his biggest gripe with Anderson was his unwillingness to use the knowledge and experience of a host of club legends including himself, Brett Kenny and PeterSterling.

"He said, 'Yeah, we'll use past players', but he hasn't done a thing," Price said.

"We're there to help him, I don't want his job. I want to help them win a premiership. I want to see [Nathan] Cayless finish with at least one premiership. And I would love to do it [help], but when I talk to himor when I'm near him it's like I'm on eggshells. I think the playersenjoy having the older players around."

"He's got the challenge in front of him, he can get them to the semis and his job is okay."

Champion Eels five-eighth Brett Kenny said he would hate to be in Anderson's shoes right now.

"It makes it very hard," Kenny said.

"Suddenly you're not just thinking about the game and the players and what you've got to do to win the game.

"You're thinking that I've got to try and win this game because I want a job next year.

"It does make it very difficult, I wouldn't want to be in that position."

Appointing Anderson was one of former Parramatta CEO Denis Fitzgerald's final appointments before being removed from the club 2009.

But yesterday Fitzgerald distanced himself from the drama.

"I do have some thoughts, but I will keep them to myself," Fitzgerald said.

  • And i thought the NSW labour party was a hotbed of politics over policy, where your best mate today is sinking the knife into your back tomorrow! Who would want to run or coach a footy club!
  • I don't reckon Ray price has many friends...
  • The odds are stacked against DA, but if he can get the boys on side we have the team to do the unthinkable.
Heres to hoping he can salvage the season against all odds and shutup the bitches who seem to eager to throw politics into the mix at the wrong time.
Why cant these guys shut the fuck up untill the season is over. Seriously, I love Price, but maybe this is why Fitzy and DA didnt want him too involved with the players....
Its bloody counter-productive at this stage of the season
  • Here's an idea Ray..... Shut the F**K UP!!

I don't give a rats that you are a legend. you are a walking headline that reporters know they can rely on for a controversial quote.

You are not helping the team in any way by making stupid comments. You clearly shouldn't be on the board! I'd gladly see your statue replaces by one of Hindy when he retires. Cos damn I know Nath will never speak a bad word about our club
  • First chapter on how to lose friends and influence new enemies.

Although I might agree with some things that Mr Perpetual Motion says and love to see Kearney as coach, it wasn't wise to air it publically.

This will definately get DA to ask Price for help and inspire great collaborative efforts within the club. hehe
  • This is exactly what i wanted to say, especially the first line!
  • The difference between 11th and top four spot is the knights game, the first broncos game and the second sharks game...thats six competition points. These games were ours for the taking. Its a tight comp and I dont agree with it being a Megafail.
Your being a bit harsh there buddy,.
  • i second that. I just dont think its our team thats our problem, its our halves combinations and thats it. People should stop acting like our team is as complicated as the Inception movie, because it sure as hell isnt. Its about the fact that we have inexperienced halves who couldnt quite lead our team across the park and it has led to us being virtually inept at scoring tries at some points of the season,

Its got nothing to do with Anderson ( though im upset that Mateo and inu are leaving) and its got nothing to do with how our team gels together because seeing them all and how they are with each other you can tell that they actually all get along and theres no tension there. If we had a good halfback in our number 7 or even someone with good kicking skills we'd easily be somewhere at the top of the ladder.
  • 3P are fucked !!!!!
  • ricky is past the post, we must look at poor results, wenty, toyota cup, and first grade who are not yet in the 8.
ossie and anderson are to blame ,for showing the door to so many players, mates of our n.r.l side.
dumb things, tony williams lost for a extra 50k, kingston lost, could have kept him for 100k.
    thats madness fellas.
now mitchel maybe be lost too, only tried once in first grade, a joke.
ando lives by the sword , on what he does. rays right, ando made parra player into half a game players, they can't play 80 mins.
ray is right so is brett kenny, and sterlo, bring them all back and run the eels, for the better..
