Possibly interesting times ahead for the cap

According to Brent Read on Triple M with the players looking fir a new CBA and the Salary cap for 2018 they have suggested that if a deal isn't reached soon they will take action which could include the following1. Boycotting events like the Dally Ms2. Refusing to allow the NRL to use the players in promotional material.3. The big one taking the NRL to court to have the salary cap deemed illegal

  • It wont go to court
  • Lol what idiots . Yeah let's deem my employers budget illegal . Players have every right to earn their own money outside the game but them and their managers are too fucking lazy to get out and do it .

And nobody watches or gives a feck about the Daly Ms .

How about you poofters get serious and sacrifice a months pay and don't play footy for a month ?
  • Possibly another cricket fiasco.
  • But when that percentage isn't a fair one then it absolutely should be, debatable.
  • How well did the NRL use the players to promote the game this year anyway?
    • Well it will mean that none of the nrl ads or promotion for the world cup can use the players faces

It might lead to things like

Ch.9 showing an ad for the Eels v Broncos game with some big black guy with a pixelated face scoring a try
  • The entire game should be a percentage of revenue.
    Salary cap
    Club grants
    Junior development
    Nrl to administer the game.
That way if the pie shrinks everyone suffers. If it grows everyone wins.
The nrl are currently completely unaccountable. They spend money without oversight then simply tell the clubs "this is all we have left". They operate like an organisation that owns the game, not like an organisation that is there purely to administer it.
  • These threats happen every time CBA is about to be renewed. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?
    • Yeah

Although they did boycott the dally ms last time and screwed Craig Gower out of the award
  • Grant promised to give the clubs an extra 30% on top of the cap so it is in the clubs best interest for the cap to be higher so they get more money. The clubs have been encouraging the larger salaries for the players knowing they would get more money from the NRL when in the past the clubs have tried to keep player wages down.
