Parramatta is not popular because they have been badly promoted. After the 2014 renaissance, we were quiet popular because they saw us having a go after the severity of our shakeup!

Subsequent failures changed this and the tribalism that was Newcastle in comparison with its isolation makes a difference, Parramatta is so big in a City sense, but the tribalism tends to be suburban rather than the single city of Newcastle or maybe I could rephrase that to a perception rather than a fact. I worry that kids are not going to be inspired the same way a generation was in the 80's.

It will be interesting to see where Newcastle end up next year, we saw the demise of Canberra 12 months after their Minor premiership, Parra after the 2022 demise, even Penrith struggled after the 2024 title (running last at one point), don't forget  this year will be interesting to see how the Dolphins will be cut up and also the premiers will lose Marky Mark and Cherry, those two probably were the difference of Roosters making the grand final, take away that kick catch game and they haven't got a great deal of attack....this was showed up by the Newcastle defencisive pattern.

Let's not forget the Bronco's this year gone!

We can also can go back to our "wooden spoon" in 2018, we made the semi's the previous year and again in 2019.

Newcastle were wooden spooners in 2025,  there team was better coached but not remarkably better  but arguably (player) wiser, do some on here want to go back to last years wooden spooners and see what they said about them, not the least of Dyllan Brown going there, through no fault of what was called at the time the stupidity of the guy we now want to hire as our recruitment boss.....a decision I have no problem with btw......but just pointing out the cynicism of this site and its occupants.

The cures are actually as controllable as we can get in an evolutionary sense.

What is our evolution, its quiet pronounced since the renaissance but just the same one we have to bear and falter with.

BA's appoinment

The club changing administratively

The oppointment  of Gurr and then Saratinos and the subsequent Centre of Excellance

Subsequent change of Chairmen

BA's sacking and the appointments both in effort and in fact of the current incumbents.

The Lomax affair and the Moses injuries

The Ryles era and the injuries resulting in the demise of 2026.

Yes this / these are all factors in our evolution

Hope you all come for the ride!......I have been on it for a loooong time!

      • Yup, and I said the whole later years Brown was with us that there are guys out there with better complete games to complement Moses on half Browns salary.  You can't sustain two halves on a million + . Unless you are getting enough from them to supplement weakness in other key areas . And we most certainly wernt out of Brown or Moses.

Brown can defend, big whoop, can find a reserve grader to do 80% of Browns defence work on 150k,   , outside that , he was quite Meh other than 2022.

In an Injury free team ,  Browns playing #14 😂 salary cap rooted , thanks Peter O.

        • The most concerning part when Brown's contract was under negotiation was his partial ACL tear. Which Newcastle seemingly ignored and then got bit on the arse.

I was comfortable with what we were paying Brown at the time (as the cap was increasing), but I was dead against a salary increase, especially given his lack of leadership when Moses was out. That was then compounded with the ticking time bomb in his knee.

          • I was fine with what he was on, but we still needed 2022 form out of him. He was paid on 2022 form, anything less and we were overpaying him.

          • Does anyone actually know why anyone is comparing Parramatta to Newcastle.  ?   What's Parramatta got to do with Newcastle lol

How is comparing us to Newcastle going to help.

Newcastle sure were smart enough to.land O'Sullivan, whilst Parramatta stuck with noted failures in Sarantinos and O'neill.   That's all that needs to be known.

Now that Matt Beach has come in, things are starting to change

          • Cmon injuries happen I mean we signed Gutherson after he had a knee recon The Roosters signed Tedesco with much the same injuries.Injury is part of the game it happens.Modern day medical isn't what it once was around knees guys come back as good if not better after rehab.

The biggest concern I have around the clubs decision to let him walk is what have we done with DBs money to improve the side firstly and we've got Moses in his prime how does it help him if we are changing his halves partner with half a dozen options changing out conmbinations on the left side every year. How is this conjusive to a side trying to gain some semblance of relevance trying to win a premiership. For me that's the bigger concern..

            • All good points Coryn

      • Hard to disagree with that Super

    • I don't deny your rationale re Brown, but your views of him do not change the thrust of my story. Not all my post's are artificial, that blog would have been better written if it was.

i wonder if Parra could get him back and how much they would pay for him, lets assume Parra got him back for 900, would Newy pay the 400 out of pocket for 9 years.....

      • I was refering to yours quote re site cynicism.  You can't really measure on what POS did pre and post coaching appointment.  Would he have done the same if he knew who they were going to hire ? Maybe , maybe not.  But it's not a fair assessment without acknowledging circumstances changed.

        • I aknowledge circumstances changed....and will keep on changing!
