Poppa's Corner: True Believers Come on Down; Unicorns Unite

Some people need to reflect on their thoughts and comments on how much we would have been beaten by tonight.

I mentioned upon reflection that the disappoinment of last week was part of us learning. If we had won last week, we would probably not have won tonight. I am always gratefull for the lessons learnt, because when you think you have it right something always happens to change it. Lets hope for consistency. Only then, can greatness come.

We will have games like last week again. Everybody does. But what we learnt cannot be taken back.

If anyone doubts the genuiness of our renaissance, go back and reflect on tonight's game and the one before it.

It is always so with Parra. But the ability is there. Some of those players will not be there in future games. But they can reflect on one thing:  We are good enough.

We will get better just the same.

  • I've seen hardly any footy this year , and have barely been in the country, and basically know fuck all about the make up of the team or the players that have come in this year,  but I actually got to the Roosters game on Saturday night and was pretty much blown away.

I have the luxury of looking at the team objectively and as an outsider - I haven't actually seen alot of these blokes play until last Saturday and I can tell you the talent, and potential, of some of these young blokes is ridiculous.

The team looks perfectly balanced for an all out assault over coming years. The halfback's sublime - at his (skill-wise) physical and mental peak - and the fact that he's also the captain just makes the progression of these youngsters even smoother. Fox and Lomax are luxuries that the team will revel with over the next 24 months. That fullback will be a mega star.

Those 2 young hookers are outstanding. Hopgood played as well as I've ever seen him play. The pack was hard working and vigorous.

The ground's great, the centre of excellence is fantastic, the coach undoubtedly looks the goods.

Really looking forward to watching this team develop into something special.

    • Kramer! Great to see you posting mate. Hope you are going well.

      • Likewise Kram, I can imagine you getting pretty excited over that performance, the key was completions and a much lower error count. I think they also learnt a lot about mental applicaton after the "sorrows" of the Souths game.

I think and some people other than Unicorns like me are actually seeing something special in progress. I cannot speak more highly of Ryles and his coaching team's involvement.

I noticed that after the Souths game that someone wanted to piss off Nathan Brown, as usual no real reason other than being judged on all his past senior coachng appointments. That said he gives an experience and a view that I am sure he talks regularly about twith Ryles.

There is a strong St George connection in this whole process, personally I have no problem with that. We all have to have a past with connections somewhere from whom we learn.
