  • It truly isn't his fault he's in this situation.

  • Well said, he does try his best and thats all you can ask. Some of the other eels players need to have a good look at themselves, not first grade material.

  • He's a kid who's trying his best. I've never bagged him on here, not once. Having said that I think it would be in his own best interests to see if he can make it apart from his father.

  • That's horrendous. These fuckwits honestly need a kick in the head , just morons feeding off the shit they read trying to be cool. I'd bet that kid could punch fuck out of them too if he was that way inclined. If only a few of our regulars had his attitude we'd be sweet as a nut.

His defence was really good last night. Was nowhere near our worst player.

    •  he wasnt our worst player against the raiders and shouldnt be bagged like that. gutho bad positional play at the back gave the raiders two tries and ultimatly cost us the game. JA was targetted alot that game and held his own, yes he is still way way of first grade standard and being put in that position where he is our only option is not his fault. in a way, i feel sorry fo the kid and hope he doesnt play first grade for some time or atleast until his ready(which tbh seems like a verry long time if at all).

i would say dunster, gutho, makatoa all had worse games then JA.

  • Exactly right. We are all hurting from watching our beloved Eels struggle this season, but we do need to remember it is a game played by humans. Things don't always go right, but we need to just suck it up and look forward to better times. Maybe it's a sign that we need to look to more important things in life to get so emotional about.

  • He's 20 years old-played first grade, worn the 7 for a very prestigious club, played in a grand final and scored a try in a GF! If he retired tomorrow that would be one hell of a resume

    • Completely agree. JA can play and has done some great stuff for a kid his age and people/members need to rember that he is still a kid. Moses wasn't killing it at that age, neither was D. Brown and not every player can be the eliete of the eliete/Nathan Cleary. Even he struggled a bit in his first season. It is unfortunate that Jacob is at the club where his Father is the head coach and he would probably be better going somewhere else because unless he sets the world/NRL on fire, no one at this club will give him a fair chance.

  • The kid really dosnt do a lot wrong. Our voices are in the minority though.

    • He actually doesn't do very much wrong. Yeah he was skinned by Munster last year , as was a few internationals and Origin players.  He's massively strengthened his defence and looked like the only bloke remotely going to score from within the oppositions 10m the other night for a while there.

Last year he was getting credited with stifling DBs attack during the games Moses was missing, now we've seen that DB simply goes into his shell even when Moses is playing. DB was only ok the other night and that wasn't anything to do with the kid being there. Really , I couldn't split the two , which is really to do with the kid improving.  He's no star and has a long way to go if he's going to be a genuine NRL regular . But he has never been as bad as made out to be which is purely because of who his old man is.

He's certainly not the answer to our back up half soulution, nor our utility soulution, but I'm more than comfortable with him being the backup for the backup.
