Play our best ball player and ball runner at 6

unless we sign a dominant 6 or 7 soon who can run our team and put oppositions under pressure, it will be more of the same next year, and the year afer that.

Hayne has the stand out passing game at our club, hands down...passes both sides and has the vision to playmake.

Hayne has the size to pierce defence and his kicking game is improving, at least on par with the guys we have left, any arguements?

Hayne has developed as a ballplayer in the last 2 years, watch the tapes of his play this year vs 2008, he rarely ballplayed then and now he looks the most likely in our team.

If we don't sign a gun 6 or 7, I would not fuck around any longer, he is a leader, our best player, rises to the occassion and will continue to develop his ballplaying skills as he matures, he is still in his early 20's for fuck sake.

Unless they discover how to reverse the aging process and burt and sterlo make a comeback it would be hayne to 6, Humble to 1 and stop fucking around.

  • i do agree that hayne is much more experienced to play in the halfs then wen he first tried it. i thiink its a option they should fiddle with in the off season and trials if they dont sign a key half. hope they dnt sign anasta
  • unless we find someone better but there is nobody better internally so ......
  • It's stating the obvious it should have been done this year. Humble at half, Hayne at 5/8. Burt or Reddy to fullback. How good is Nasso, can he step up to the NRL?
  • I think he should be in the halves if we aren't sorted by then. He has matured into a great ball player and kicker so it just makes sense that he controls the plays from the halves instead of fullback where it seems they confuse each other more then actually getting right.

Oooooh just saw that DA will be on nrl tactics tonight. Will be interesting.
  • Hayne's already been tried at 5/8 and it hasn't worked.
There is no point in trying to make it work again, when Hayne's preferred position is fullback.
We already have the option of either Morts/Humble in the halves, or even Humble/Murray if we want to go down that path.
  • I understand whAt your saying Ricky but hayne has evolved since then And I think he could make it work if we had to go down that path.

I prefer him at fullback but I honestly don't think the combinations that we have available will change much next year. I still don't know if humble can take the step up. I think he has potential however he really needs to step up in the off season and develop his kicking and passing game to consistent nrl quality standard.

I think hayne has both of this qualities already plus his brilliiance and that will go a long way to get the results we want.
  • I'm not entirely against it, but I just don't want the same thing to happen as it did when Hayne started the year at 5/8, and then we started poorly.
That's the last thing I want. The pressure is on him too much to perform even more at 5/8.

Also, as I have said before, regardless of what players are picked, or the positions they're in, I'm here to support the Eels for the long run.

I'll reserve complete judgment of the whole situation until I see a Humble/Murray combination in the halves during the pre-season games.
    • I hope they do prove to be our answer. There's nothing I want more then stability in our halves.

Ricky where does it say that Murray has signed. I can't find it anywhere
