Do we have the back three to ruck the ball out for play 1. At best Lomax, but who else.... cant see JAC making yards from play 1 and yet to see anyone else.....In our good years we had Semi Radradra and Fergo.

Fergo and Semi never played together. That is Sivo you are thinking of.
Jac tries hard enough and is smart with the angles he runs. Same with Russell. The second hit up will either be Penisini or Lomax. They are both very good at yardage carries.
Simmonson is also a good option when he returns.
Yes we do. JAC and Iongi might not be huge but are both very elusive. We'll see more tackle breaks from kick returns in every single game from those 2 than we got from Guth and Sivo in a whole season. Simonsson also goes OK on tackle 1
Yep we miss Fergo and Semi, but they are gone and this is definitely an area of concern. Sivo, as good as he was at finishing, sadly offered next to nothing in this regard for the past few seasons. Slow, disinterested and lacking any form of impact with his hit ups in these circumstances. He lost the plot and offered only one thing, a great finish. Tago offers nothing IMO and Russell might but gees how long does it take to step up? JAC, better than any of our current wingers. Just another reason why Lomax should be on the wing, if his play for centre doesn't work out after a few rounds. Team first!
Simonsson at full fitness and Russell are good at it, Bailey quite good.
JAC will do OK. Lomax and Penisini will do well too.
It's not elite, but it is enough, and definitely not an area of strength, but not weakness.
We'll see how our style develops around it.
I think our biggest issue with our play 1 (tackle 2) has been the inability of Gutho to break the line. More often than not he caught the ball then tackled immediately or ran to the line, got hit and driven back. This allowed the opposition to set a defensive line before our players could get back on side.
Iongi has already shown that he has the ability to break a tackle and get into a broken defensive line. This is where our play 1 will hopefully have more impact.
The broken tackle and an extra say 10 metres also means our forwards aren't having to run further back on side hopefully getting a quick breather.
Maybe have Lomax at wing and have Simonsson next to him in centre when he's back fit?
There's only 1 solution, bring back Waqa Blake! Tend to agree we've got a problem. Not a new one though. We'll struggle against a set defensive line but see more line brakes on long range kick returns. If we can get quick play the balls our second tackle should make up for it.
Lomax Penisini Iongi and to a lesser extent JaC Russell and Simonsson.Its one area the club has invested and fixed the back 5.
Lomax is a penalty waiting to happen Everytime he hits the ball up and almost always finds his front much like Penisini.Iongi searches for the hole with his footwork.
Its one area I think we are a hell of alot stronger than we've been in alot of years.
Brian To'o is probably the best in the game at the moment and he's not all that big. There are many smaller wingers that are good at getting in between tacklers with their footwork which means they don't get dominated. Sure they still get smashed but mostly they are very effective and JAC is no exception. He's an Australian/NSW winger. Don't forget the downtown rule also gives returners a little more space to work with which is ideal for JAC
