I remember brown came in at 18 and his back couldn't hold up to nrl. So they had to shut him down. 2027 is the smart move for Lorenzo give him the best chance to succeed
Lorenzo is 20 next year. But with Volkman and Hawkins signed who is to say Lorenzo plays 6.
I do not see how having Pezet for a year only helps this team as oppose to just playing Joash? I do not rate Joash long term at 5/8, but we still were able to win games with him at 5/8. We can get by and he can improve and who knows prove me wrong, but if he is just ok then ease Lorenzo in with some game time in 2026 and he plays 2027. I doubt Joash or Lorenzo learn much off Pezet, they would learn more playing FG.
The kid went from SG Ball, to Flegg to Cup in a matter of months. His body will have growing pains, Brown's did his debut year but will be better for it.
In terms of confidence, he will be coming into a team that had numerous rookies and a coach with a vision for blooding them. He will have some rough games, a lot of the players at the club last year did.
This sounds like the worst deal ever! The only way this makes sense is if Ryles thinks we have a genuine chance at winning the premiership next year with Pez dispenser in the team. If this is the case, then alright, I'll back Ryles all the way. If not, there is no way it makes sense no matter how you look at it!
Ive had my say but we need to give Ryles the benefit of the doubt. Brisbane are obviously after an organiser and that position commands upwards of 850k. . It could be that we weren't prepared to pay upwards of 850 for Pezet who's position is obviously 7 and the club didn't want to pay 850 to 900k. That's totally understandable.
Now for the one year deal- it gives us time to see if Lorenzo or Joash can really step up to the plate, and also gives Ryles time to enter negotiations with other likely candidates.
The bottom line is - do we want to pay Pezet 900k to be our 6, and i think the answer is no. 6 is a totally different position, a running position, a more instinctive player who isn’t the main organisational player.
If we're in the finals next year, particularly at the pointy end of the ladder, im sure nob6on here will be complaining too much about the Pezet gap year deal. Stop complaining and look at what's real here. Ryles knows what he's doing.

I love your optimism Eli.

Brown was a much better defender than Lorenzo at 18.
I'd be more pissed if we are still paying matto to do nothing for 2026 😂😂 Pezet is not an issue lol
And I don't know how we're not getting rid of matto, this club keeps getting worse
Is this a serious comment?
We can't 'get rid' of Matterson if no club wants him. You simply can't just cut a player and have that wiped from the salary cap.

Looks like Coby Black is on his way out of Brisbane now as well. I thought he would take over Reynolds
