Pezet most likely staying at the Storm

Michael Chammas mentioned this morning that Papenhuyzen has played his last game for the Storm and that they want to play Pezet at 5/8, shifting Munster to fullback.

I don't see Pezet leaving if there is a 5/8 spot open at the Storm, opposed to the Eels

Talataina it is then

          • Bup you are making assumptions not unlike me in suspecting that Ryles has done a deal already. Your 10/9 price I could not gets inside, maybe 7/4.

I think you have explained the positives in Pezet for the reason we have maybe got him. I will probably end up doing the same, if its true and he is joining us.

I asked EA what Pezet was like as a junior (minor grades) because I have not really seen any attacking ability. i.e. has he lost pace since his ACL reconstruction, will he regain speed and justify himself more in attack? Fundamentally a six can run a game with a rookie half, think Maloney and Cleary.....but a six with playmaking ability and limited attack will struggle with a dominant half like Moses.

I think Moses would prefer to have a Joash Papilli to compliment him where as I cannot see Pezet doing that. Ideally of course a Cambell/Burton situation is another level. Michael W indicates AJ Brimson, again he would benefit by a half like Moses and again he would complement Moses.

What Moses has learnt in his dalliance with Origin and International is how players like him can be ruined by other halves and hookers who don't play his (Moses) game. ie he has become very aware of the selfishness of those around him....he also experienced that early with Parra with Corey Norman and him head butting for control.

Bup you know as well as me how dangerous this is if Moses is not onside with the deal.

If we do get him(Pezet) I will revert to your positives.

            • Watching Braiths comments about both Pezet , Ryles and Parra throughout the year I get a clear impression the deals done I'd be very surprised if Parra aren't already of that understanding.

Obviously nothings been announced and things can change late but as I said he'd be stung about missing that grand final and if you watch the Storms end of year games they were much more fluent when Pezet started.

Moses is the Key because it's his game that's influenced the most by his 6 and how much load he needs to take on.

The way I'd structure our attack assuming Pezet is signed is Moses gets the ball when he wants it obviously.

Having two quality kickers in the side is a massive advantage Pezets short kicking game is elite better then Mitch , where Moses long kicking game is unsurpassed  so you play to your strengths allowing Moses in the red zone to inject himself into our sets both sides of the ruck probing the defence more without the burden of end of set .

Too often opportunities are lost on the oppositions tryline because Moses has to concern himself too much with positioning himself for an end of set kick which often burns tackles.

What we need from Pezet is a combination with a backrower with Kautoga, Tuilagi and at times Williams he'd have no shortage of hard running line runners to catch defenders eyes and work on his own early running game.

More importantly the style of football the Eels are playing with quick shifts it's crisp passing and early ball for our outside men giving them space by playing straight which we need most from the kid.

You work out with your hookers where on the feild each half likes to get the ball to be most effective and let your dummy half's take off anytime they see a marker on the ground up intill tackle 4  with Moses owning the fifth tackle.

Moses could be the Dally M winner next year if he's freed up to attack at will.

We could see the best of him with a halves partner that allows him complete freedom to unleash without a cost to our end of sets.

Pezets defence is standard for a half and something we'd want improvement out of  but it's certainly not a liability.

The big question next year is how we utilise our bench.

Two hookers in the squad and the must have Walker on the bench you can see why Ryles is after interchangeable middles and edge backrowers .

Where we get into trouble is if we lose an outside back in game , we struggle to cover centre effectively in that situation.

Looking forward to next season more so then any in the last decade.

      • I'm glad you're not on the parramatta recruitment, we'd be buying Nelson and a bunch of other ass players. Pezet is a talent, can't let talent like that walk without a fight. Better talent than Galvin I'd say.

        • Yes, Pezet is a talent, at 7 not 6. Joash is talented, but a work in progress, and he wouldn't be in the top 10 number 6's in the comp, neither is Pezet. I honestly can't see the fascination some have with Pezet. I think he will make a good 7 for a lot of teams, good kicking and passing game, has no attack whatsoever. This very similar to Galvin, he's a 6, not a 7, and look what that did to the dogs. The player i would be chasing would be AJ Brimson, I hear he's not a happy camper. And as for Nelson, what has he got to do with what I've said.

          • A lot of untapped potential at the Titans, maybe Hannay is the man to help them reach it? Generally speaking there's a lot of value to be found there if you can pry them away from that location and lifestyle.

  • Oh well Joash will definitely step up get out of his comfort zone

    • I was impressed with his development at 6 as the year went on. You have to remember he has not played much if any 6 in his career. Trained all presason at 1 and was thrust into 6 role mid year. His defensive reads were excellent i thought and did a really good job at check and releasing the lead runners to help his centre/wing slide. His ball playing and decision making is what he needs to work on but he has a good base to work off going into the preseason

  • Mark O'Neil is reading these comments thinking I need to find this MON guy, he's fuking everything up
