I was talking to a old bloke at my gym hes old footy nut.
He made a point about Penisini and Russell i thought was interesting, Both have had the same junior systems and coaching same 1st grade coaches.
Penisini always had the hype and expectations to be a rep quality 1st grader.
Russell always been a back up option no expectations of higher honours
This year a new coach Penisini is looking lost in defence at times and his attacking output is down and costly.
Russell attacking is about the same but he is doing more out of the backfield his defence has improved and even goal kicking you can see improvement. Still not 1st choice still expectations are low
Whats the difference between the two players is it all attitude? For Will it's all come to him as it was expected Russell is working hard to become a 1st grade player Will is looking less and less like one. Attitude or is it a mental thing maybe?
I thought it's interesting to see how these two players from Arthur's Roshill Rhinos pathways system are going about things under the new system

Penisini is simply not a centre, he's more suited as a winger.
The longer it goes without moving him there , eventually he'll be neither.
What job has he been doing? Bloody awful. I like how you say do a job but that could be used to say for a17 year old in the system could do a job!
Not every player is a Rep player. Clubs have 30 player spots to fill. You need guys who are competent and inexpensive. Russell's defence has been good this year. He has also shown he is decent under a high ball, took a screamer on the weekend. He can also kick goals. You need these types in your Top 30.

Been watching all games except last wk. He runs around like a headless chook usually Moses is scrambling because he takes the wrong option every time also he comes running out he just can't defend at all.. shocking judgement.

I get scared every time he takes the field, He can not set up his outside man.. can't break a tackle looks more likely then penis but also can't defend to save his life! Players like him are why we are losing the winnable games he just does the wrong option. If this is building your top 30 with players like that probably a good reason we are were we are!
