Paul Osbourne

In all fairness, I want someone to ask Ray Spagnolo if Osbourne's position will be reviewed at the end of the year.

IF Osbourne spent more time in player recruitment and less time chasing headlines and running self promotion exercises, we would be in a better position for next year. It's like he has to tell everybody who will listen parramatta's recruitment strategy before we sign anybody. FIrst he said, we are looking at cronk, then barrett then orford. Result nothing. Now, he wants to sing an ARU player, a year before a world cup for $500k a year. Lets see how that pans out. I think this will fizzle out and we lose the opportunity to sign kimmorley.

So, we have recruited no one for next year, we have 7 or 8 of our top 25 players unsigned, we have lost 5 members of our current 1st grade team including mateo and kk which really irks me as this was about the time that Osbourne announced to the media a ban on signing any players. In the midst of all this, Osbourne has time to undermine our coach's position at a time where every game is do or die with a junior coach who has proved nothing and is lightweight compared to Ando's record.

So if I was a parra player like jono wright, justin Horo, Eric Grothe, i would ask myself who's in control here???? Ando's position has been undermined, Osbourne seems to want to proclaim everything he is thinking to the detriment of parramatta's interests and they see that osbourne is throwing every cent we have on a untested kid who cant tackle playing rugby and cant find enough money to offer them a minimum contract.

Osbourne's priorities stink and he should be held accountable for the joke he is...

  • Totally agree!

I also believe Spagnolo should be reviewed as well!

Dare i mention Fitzgerald? He is looking good compared with these jokers.
  • NOW NOW lets not get irrational here :P
  • he's a ex copper m8 what do expect, i thought it was strange when he come out and announced we had signed Tahu before he had actually signed. But if he signs Cooper he will totally redeem himself lol
  • They say that once you get into politics you will always be a politician!

Politicians like used car salesman seem to have a knack of talking out of their arses and telling people what they want to hear not what they need to hear. Politicians seem to be able to bullshit better than everyone else(for example:the Halfback to end all halfbacks talk that has never materialised), they are thieves (Woolworths shoplifting ordeal), and they are deceitful (talking to Steve Kearney without negotiating with Daniel Anderson ), and like all politicians they seem to take the credit for others hard work (the golden run home in 2009)!.

And just like a useless politician, Paul Osbourne has done all of the above(Bullshitted, been deceitful and been caught stealing) with out having any egg on his face!

Paul Osbourne has been fortunate enough to be able to use Daniel Anderson as a scape goat, blaming the turmoil at the club on his shoulders with the belief that everything is Anderson's fault due to the fact that he was hired under the old guard of the Fitzgerald era!

Osbourne needs to realise that a great leader leads from the front and accepts responsibility of the group whether the situation is good or bad, a great leader doesnt need to be in the spotlight all the time, and a great leader does not shirk his/her responsibilities and blame their subordinates for the misfortunes that they have created!

I.M.O If certain board members and Ceo's concentrated on running the Eels instead of running their mouths off criticising others at the club, then maybe the Eels would be running a lot smoother than they are at the moment , maybe then the Eels wouldn't be the focus of attention with the media and Daniel Anderson would be able to get on with the job he is being paid to do instead of having some grub constantly looking over his shoulder criticising every move he makes!
  • tommy i think the thieves comment was a low blow . we know the full story of that and he wasnt to blame, it was a simple mistake that could be made by anyone .

But i definitely agree with you in relation to board members concentrating on running the eels as opposed to leaking information to the media. That has to be stopped! Its ridiculous that atm we're our own worst enemy.
  • Well said Tommyboy.

What about Osbourne announcing Fui and Burt had agreed to terms and then it took 2 months later for it to be signed with ongoing speculation fui wanted more and othe clubs making offers.

Osbourne thinks headlines rather than securing the signature. Compare this style with Todd Greenberg. He doesn't talk until the deal has been completed. He backs his coach and get the results. Now the bulldogs have been more disappointing than the eels this year and there is not a murmor about Moore's position at the club. In the meantime, Greenberg has been able to recruit Hodkinson, Keating, Tandy, Tolman while we have secured no one of consequence but lost half our team. Very depressing indeed.
  • Don't get me started about Horo.

We will pay double what we could have if we had foresight and signed him 2 months ago.

    Another Osbourne fuckup.
  • Why doesn't everyone stop blaming the whole retention/recruitment policy on Osborne. Daniel Anderson would have the same amount of input on this.

Secondly noone is pointing out the good Osborne has done by turning around the club financially.
  • Rod, Osbourne has done shit but sign up Tahu. He was more than happy to tell every media outlet that it was his friendship that secured the coup and look how much value Tahu has given us.

Ando is the one that deserves the credit because he got us there to the grand final which enabled us to double our memberships for this year. But Osbourne tries to take the limelight for this.

That's why it shits me so much. I don't like people getting a raw deal.
  • thats a good point dude!
